Why Do Mirror Doors Crack More In Toronto Cold?

Your mirror closet doors look fine until January. Then cracks appear. Toronto winter’s harsh temps create stress that mirror glass can’t handle. Understanding why helps you prevent costly damage.

Why Thermal Stress Breaks Glass

Mirror glass experiences huge temp swings. Your bedroom stays at twenty degrees Celsius. Outside hits minus eighteen. That thirty-eight degree difference creates massive stress.

Glass expands in heat and shrinks in cold. The problem? Different parts of the mirror experience temps differently. The edge hits cold faster than the center. Uneven expansion and contraction create internal stress.

When stress builds beyond what glass can handle, it cracks. The crack usually starts at the edge where stress points exist. It races across the mirror in a meandering path.

Standard Glass vs. Tempered Glass

Cheap mirror doors use annealed glass—basic untreated glass. This glass is more vulnerable to thermal stress. It breaks at smaller temp differences.

Tempered glass handles thermal swings way better. It’s heated above six hundred degrees and cooled fast. This creates internal tension that strengthens it.

Tempered glass resists cracking from temp changes. It can handle rapid swings that would shatter annealed glass.

Most mirror closet doors use cheap annealed glass because it costs less. You pay for this when temps drop.

Edge Damage Makes It Worse

Tiny chips in mirror edges act as stress points. These weak spots are where cracks start.

During install, workers sometimes nick the edge. These nicks seem small—barely visible. But in winter, thermal stress finds them. The crack starts there and spreads.

Even scratches can weaken tempered glass. Once scratched, tempered glass loses some strength.

Installation Problems Add Risk

Improper framing creates uneven stress. If the mirror frame isn’t square, pressure builds uneven. One corner gets stressed more than others. That corner cracks first.

Poor weatherstripping lets cold air sneak behind the mirror. Thermal shock hits the back surface. This creates additional stress.

Installers who rush or cut corners create problems. Quality install spreads stress evenly.

Misalignment From Cold

Metal tracks and frames contract in cold. Wooden frames warp. This misalignment stresses the mirror. The mirror can’t move with the frame.

Repeated misalignment cycles weaken the glass. Eventually, thermal stress triggers cracking.

Prevention Strategies

Choose tempered glass for closet mirrors. Yes, it costs more. But it survives Toronto winters. Standard glass will crack.

Get quality installs. Pros align frames square and seal properly. Poor installs save money upfront but cost big later.

Inspect for edge damage before buying. Ask the vendor about edge quality. Tiny chips now become big cracks in winter.

Maintain weatherstripping. Replace worn seals. This prevents cold air from sneaking behind mirrors.

Keep bedroom temps steady. Sudden temp drops stress glass. Gradual changes are easier on glass.

Winter Care Steps

  • Use tempered glass, never standard glass
  • Check weatherstripping monthly
  • Keep bedroom door closed in cold
  • Avoid hanging heavy items on mirror doors
  • Don’t slam doors—impacts stress the glass

Repair vs. Replace

Small cracks in tempered glass are tough to fix. Partial replacement is possible but costly. Most folks replace the whole mirror.

Replacement costs two hundred to eight hundred depending on size. Pro install adds one hundred to three hundred.

Prevent it and you dodge these bills.

Why Toronto Is Worse Than Most Places

Toronto’s freeze-thaw cycle is brutal. Temps swing fast. Glass can’t keep up. Daily swings from minus ten to above zero create constant stress.

Coastal areas with steady cold are actually easier on glass. Toronto’s swings are the worst.

2026 Shelving Trends Toronto Designers Swear By

white living room with custom wood shelving toronto

Toronto design is shifting toward warmer, textured looks. Custom wood shelving Toronto homes now feature moves away from stark minimalism. Designers blend natural materials with smart function.

Rich Wood Tones Replace Light Pine

Light pine dominated for years. Now walnut, oak, and ash take over. Darker woods add warmth without feeling heavy. Rift-sawn white oak brings subtle grain that suits modern spaces.

Reclaimed wood gains traction too. It adds texture and history to clean interiors. Each piece looks unique.

Sustainable materials matter more. FSC-certified woods and low-VOC finishes align with green building trends.

Floating Shelves Evolve Past Minimalism

Floating shelves stay popular but change how they’re styled. The sterile, empty look fades. Now shelves hold curated items—books, plants, art.

Thicker shelves—one point seven-five inches or more—create visual weight. Thin shelves feel dated. Substantial wood gives shelves presence.

Hardware stays hidden. Brackets tuck inside for a clean, seamless look. Steel brackets handle heavy loads while staying invisible.

Built-In Shelving Returns Strong

Built-ins offer storage plus architectural interest. Toronto designers integrate shelving into walls, creating cohesive spaces.

Living rooms feature built-in TV walls with open shelves. Kitchens use open shelving instead of upper cabinets. Bedrooms gain built-in storage around beds.

Custom millwork costs more upfront—two hundred to five hundred dollars per square foot. But it adds lasting value and function.

Mixed Materials Add Visual Interest

Wood paired with metal creates contrast. Black steel frames with walnut shelves work in industrial spaces. Brass hardware adds warmth to oak shelves.

Glass shelves lighten spaces. Acrylic adds modern flair. But wood remains the top choice for its warmth and durability.

Multi-height setups replace uniform rows. Staggered shelves create visual rhythm. This feels less rigid than evenly spaced shelves.

Function Meets Style

Toronto’s small condos demand smart storage. Shelving needs to work hard. Pull-out shelves in closets maximize space. Built-in dividers organize.

Vertical shelving uses wall height. Floor-to-ceiling units store more without eating floor space.

Corner shelves capture dead zones. Floating corner units turn awkward spots into functional storage.

Color Trends Favor Natural and Moody Tones

Matte black shelves create drama. Deep olive green adds richness. These saturated tones replace bright whites.

Natural wood finishes stay top. Clear coats protect while showing grain. Shaded finishes reduce grain visibility but keep warmth.

White remains an option but feels less trendy. Warm neutrals like taupe or greige work better.

Smart Integration With Technology

Hidden lighting transforms shelves. Puck lights or LED strips highlight items. Warm light suits wood better than cool white.

Built-in charging stations hide cords. Shelves designed with cord management keep tech tidy.

Custom shelving fits around TVs, speakers, and gaming systems. Designers plan cable routing during install.

Popular Applications Around Toronto Homes

Living Rooms: TV walls with floating shelves and closed storage. Display zones for books and decor.

Kitchens: Open shelving replaces upper cabinets. Wood shelves soften modern kitchens.

Home Offices: Built-in desks with shelving above. Vertical files and book storage.

Bedrooms: Floating nightstand shelves save floor space. Built-in wardrobes with shoe shelving.

Entries: Mudroom cubbies with bench seating. Hooks and shelves for coats and bags.

What Toronto Designers Recommend

Quality beats quantity. Invest in fewer, well-built pieces rather than cheap mass-market options.

Plan for weight. Heavy books and decor need strong brackets and proper wall anchors.

Leave room to breathe. Over-styled shelves feel cluttered. Balance full and empty space.

Mix open and closed storage. Open shelves display. Closed cabinets hide clutter.

Cost Guide for Custom Work

DIY floating shelves run fifty to one hundred fifty dollars depending on size and wood type. Pro install adds one hundred to three hundred.

Custom built-ins cost two hundred to five hundred per square foot installed. A full living room wall runs three to six grand.

Pull-out systems for closets start at five hundred for basic setups. Complex pantry systems reach two grand or more.

Materials drive cost. Walnut and oak cost more than pine or MDF. Reclaimed wood adds premium pricing.

The 2026 Direction

Toronto design moves toward warmer, layered spaces. Custom wood shelving Toronto projects reflect this shift—rich woods, textured finishes, and thoughtful styling replace cold minimalism.

Function stays key. But beauty matters too. The best shelving does both.

Spark Light Winter 2025: Pro Frameless Shower Tips

white bathroom with frameless shower glass in Toronto home

Winter mornings in Toronto feel dark and gloomy. Your bathroom should be a bright spot in those early hours. Heavy shower curtains and framed doors block light and make spaces feel closed in.

Glass changes everything. Installing frameless shower glass Toronto units now opens up your bathroom and bounces light around beautifully. Fall is the right time to book this work before contractors fill their winter schedules with indoor projects.

Glass Opens Up Tight Spaces

Small bathrooms feel cramped with bulky shower frames. Metal frames create visual barriers that chop up sight lines. Your eye stops at the frame instead of flowing through the space. Frameless glass removes those barriers completely. You see straight through to the back wall. Rooms feel twice as large without changing actual square footage.

Clear glass shows off pretty tile work too. If you’ve invested in beautiful shower tile, why hide it behind frosted plastic? Glass puts your design choices on display. Your whole bathroom looks more polished and intentional.

Thicker Glass Means Better Quality

Standard shower glass runs three-eighths inch thick. It works fine but can flex slightly. Half-inch glass feels more solid and substantial. It doesn’t wobble when you push it. The extra thickness costs more but the quality shows immediately.

Budget around $1,200-2,500 for quality frameless enclosures. Size matters—larger showers need more glass. Corner units cost less than three-sided enclosures. Get quotes from three installers to compare pricing and glass thickness options.

Hardware Finishes Tie Your Look Together

Frameless glass uses minimal hardware—hinges, handles, and clips. These small pieces make a big visual impact. Chrome feels clean and bright. Brushed nickel warms things up. Matte black creates modern contrast. Oil-rubbed bronze suits traditional baths.

Match your hardware finish to your faucets and towel bars. Consistent finishes throughout the bathroom look professional. Mixing finishes feels messy and unplanned. Pick one finish and stick with it everywhere.

Proper Sealing Stops Water Leaks

Glass panels need sealing where they meet walls and floors. Clear silicone works best—it’s flexible and water-resistant. Cheap caulk yellows over time and looks gross. Quality silicone stays clear for years.

Installers should seal both inside and outside seams. Water can sneak behind glass if sealing is incomplete. Ask your installer about their sealing process. Good teams take time to apply clean, even beads. Sloppy teams rush and leave gaps.

Door Swing Direction Matters

Doors can swing in or out. Think about your bathroom layout before deciding. If your toilet sits close to the shower, an inward-swinging door might hit it. Outward-swinging doors need clearance in the bathroom. Measure carefully before choosing.

Some folks prefer doors that swing both ways. Pivot hinges allow this flexibility. You can enter and exit from either direction. This works great in shared bathrooms where multiple people use the shower.

Curved Glass Fits Tricky Corners

Not all showers have straight walls. Some sit in corners or have angled layouts. Curved glass bends to fit these spaces smoothly. It costs more than straight panels but solves layout problems elegantly.

Curved glass also creates a softer look. Sharp angles feel harsh. Gentle curves feel more organic and spa-like. If your budget allows and your layout suits it, curved glass adds a nice touch.

Maintenance Keeps Glass Sparkling

Squeegee after every shower. This simple habit prevents most water spots. It takes 30 seconds and saves hours of scrubbing later. Keep a squeegee hanging inside your shower for easy access.

Use vinegar and water weekly for deeper cleaning. Spray it on, let it sit a few minutes, then wipe clean. Avoid abrasive cleaners—they scratch glass. Microfiber cloths work better than paper towels. They don’t leave lint behind.

Installation Takes One Day

Installers measure first, then order custom glass. Lead time runs 2-4 weeks typically. Installation happens in one day for most standard showers. Crews remove old doors or curtains. They mount hardware and hang glass panels. They seal everything and test for leaks.

You can usually shower the next day once silicone cures. Full cure takes 24-48 hours. Your installer will give you exact timing. Don’t rush it—let seals cure properly.

Transform Baths With Bold Winter Remodel Ideas

white luxury bathroom model ideas in GTA

Your bathroom sees heavy use every single day. Outdated tile makes mornings feel dull. Cramped layouts waste space. Poor lighting casts unflattering shadows. Fall is when smart folks plan their bathroom upgrades. Working with bathroom remodel ideas GTA designers now means your space gets finished before spring. Winter months are perfect for indoor work that doesn’t depend on weather. You’ll start each day in a space that actually makes you smile.

Go Big With Statement Tile

Boring white subway tile is everywhere. Stand out with bold choices instead. Large-format tiles in 12×24 or 18×18 sizes create fewer grout lines. Rooms look bigger and cleaner. Geometric patterns add visual punch without feeling busy. Hexagon floor tiles bring retro charm. Herringbone walls create movement and interest.

Color matters hugely. Deep navy creates moody elegance. Sage green feels calm and spa-like. Terracotta brings warmth. Black matte tile feels modern and dramatic. Mix two colors in patterns for custom looks. Your tile choice sets the entire room’s personality. Pick something that speaks to you.

Floating Vanities Open Up Space

Wall-mounted vanities leave floor space visible underneath. This trick makes small baths feel roomier. Cleaning becomes easier with open floor. No awkward corners to reach. Storage still happens in drawers and shelves above the counter.

Choose vanities with soft-close drawers. No more slamming sounds. Deep drawers hold towels and products better than cabinet shelves. Add organizer inserts so items don’t roll around. Your morning routine runs smoother when everything has a spot.

Upgrade Shower Experiences

Basic single-head showers feel basic. Upgrade to rain heads mounted in the ceiling. Water cascades down like natural rainfall. Add a handheld sprayer on a slide bar for flexibility. You get two spray options in one space. Body jets create spa vibes if your budget allows.

Frameless glass enclosures beat shower curtains every time. They look clean and modern. Glass makes small baths feel open. Curved glass works in tight corners. Your bathroom instantly feels more upscale with quality glass work.

Smart Storage Hides Clutter

Visible clutter ruins even beautiful baths. Built-in niches in shower walls hold shampoo and soap. No caddies hanging from heads. Medicine cabinets recessed into walls save space. Mirrored fronts serve double duty.

Toe-kick drawers use wasted space under vanities. Pull them out for extra towel storage. Tall cabinets reach toward ceilings for vertical storage. Open shelves display pretty items. Closed cabinets hide everyday stuff. Mix both types for function and style.

Lighting Layers Create Ambiance

One ceiling light creates harsh shadows. Layer multiple light sources instead. Sconces flanking mirrors eliminate face shadows. Pendant lights add style and task lighting. Recessed ceiling lights provide overall brightness. Dimmer switches let you adjust mood from bright to relaxing.

Hardware Details Polish The Look

Cabinet pulls and towel bars might seem minor. They’re not. Mismatched finishes cheapen spaces. Choose one finish and stick with it throughout. Matte black feels modern. Brushed gold feels warm. Chrome feels clean and classic. Brushed nickel splits the difference.

Quality hardware feels substantial in your hand. Cheap stuff feels light and flimsy. Spend a bit more here. These pieces get touched daily. You’ll notice the difference every single time.

Plan Your Remodel Now and Visit Keystone Home Products

Gather photos of baths you love. Notice what draws you—colors, fixtures, layouts. Share these with designers. They’ll understand your vision faster. Get three quotes from local remodel teams. Compare scope, materials, and timelines carefully.

Book work for late October through winter. Indoor projects avoid weather delays. Crews focus fully on your space. By spring, you’ll have a bathroom that feels like a retreat. Start making calls this week. Your dream bath is closer than you think.

2025 Shower Designs: Brighten Gloomy Winter Days

bathroom with frameless shower glass

Winter mornings arrive wrapped in gray clouds that steal daylight like thieves robbing jewelry stores. Frameless shower glass transforms bathrooms into light-filled chambers where photons dance and multiply through transparent barriers. Like prisms that split single beams into rainbow spectrums, strategic glass placement amplifies scarce winter sunlight into therapeutic brightness.

The Physics of Glass as Light Conductor

Opaque shower curtains and framed enclosures block precious natural illumination like heavy theater drapes. Frameless shower glass allows natural and artificial light to flow freely throughout shower spaces, creating brighter and more open atmospheres. This transparency functions like removing walls between rooms – suddenly space feels doubled without changing actual dimensions.

Low-Iron Glass as Crystal Alternative

Ultra-Clear Technology

Low-iron glass has become a favorite choice for those wanting pristine, unobstructed views that reduce the greenish tint found in standard glass. This clearer material performs like high-definition lenses versus regular eyeglasses – suddenly details emerge sharply. The difference becomes especially noticeable in bathrooms with limited natural light sources.

Light Transmission Excellence

Standard glass absorbs and reflects portions of light that passes through its thickness. Low-iron alternatives maximize transmission by removing iron oxide impurities that create color distortion. This optimization means more lumens reach your shower space from every available source.

Investment in Clarity

Premium glass costs more initially but delivers superior performance throughout decades of daily use. Like buying concert tickets versus streaming recordings, direct experience surpasses cheaper alternatives dramatically. The brightness difference justifies expense for homeowners who value winter wellness.

Design Strategies for Maximum Brightness

Placement Opposite Windows

Frameless enclosures maximize the flow of natural light within bathrooms, making even smaller spaces feel larger and brighter. Positioning glass to catch window light creates cascading illumination that bounces throughout entire rooms. This strategic alignment works like positioning mirrors in photography studios.

Reflective Tile Pairings

Light-colored tiles behind glass amplify brightness through reflection while dark surfaces absorb precious lumens wastefully. White subway tiles function like theater reflectors that multiply stage lighting effects. Glossy finishes outperform matte surfaces for maximum light multiplication.

Minimal Hardware Aesthetics

Ultra-thin hardware and barely-there handles reduce visual barriers that fragment light paths. Each metal element creates small shadows and interruptions that accumulate into noticeable dimming. Minimalist mounting systems preserve transparency like invisible picture frame edges.

Tinted Glass as Mood Lighting

Colored Light Therapy

Tinted frameless shower doors in shades of aqua or other vibrant colors create fun, quirky vibes when natural light passes through them. These hues function like Instagram filters for your bathroom – transforming ordinary light into emotional experiences. Warm tones combat seasonal blues effectively.

Strategic Color Selection

Aqua tints evoke ocean feelings while amber creates sunset warmth during gray winter mornings. Consider lighting conditions carefully – natural light behaves differently than artificial sources through colored glass. Test samples under various conditions before committing to permanent installations.

Natural Elements Integration

Bringing Outdoors Inside

Natural light, organic materials, and greenery play pivotal roles in creating serene, spa-like retreats in 2024 bathroom design. Frameless doors invite the outside in by maintaining visual connections with windows and skylights. This transparency erases boundaries between interior and exterior spaces psychologically.

Plant Life Enhancement

Living greenery visible through clear glass adds organic vitality that combats winter dormancy feelings. Plants benefit from shower humidity while providing natural air filtration simultaneously. This symbiotic relationship creates healthier bathroom ecosystems overall.

Hardware Finishes That Reflect Light

Metallic Light Multiplication

Satin brass has firmly established itself among leading hardware colors for frameless shower doors through its warm, reflective properties. Polished chrome and brushed nickel also bounce light effectively while offering different aesthetic temperatures. These finishes function like jewelry that catches light attractively.

Matte Versus Gloss Decisions

Glossy hardware reflects light sharply while matte finishes diffuse illumination softly. Neither approach proves universally superior – context determines optimal choices. Consider existing bathroom finishes and personal style preferences when selecting hardware treatments.

Winter Wellness Through Bright Bathing

Seasonal Affective Disorder Combat

Bright morning showers provide light therapy that helps regulate circadian rhythms disrupted by short winter days. This daily photon exposure supports mood stability and energy levels naturally. Medical research supports light exposure benefits for mental health maintenance.

Therapeutic Ritual Creation

Combining brightness with warm water creates sensory experiences that combat winter blues effectively. These daily rituals become anchors that provide consistency during challenging seasonal transitions. Small luxuries accumulate into significant quality-of-life improvements over months.

Your bathroom deserves transformation into a luminous sanctuary where winter darkness cannot penetrate. Frameless shower glass represents architectural poetry that amplifies every photon into therapeutic brightness supporting both body and spirit throughout challenging seasons.

Refresh Your Bathroom With Bold Winter Remodels

blue bathroom remodel ideas

Bathrooms serve as private sanctuaries where morning rituals become meditative performances under warm water cascades. Bathroom remodel ideas centered around glass elements transform utilitarian spaces into spa-like galleries that reflect light like crystal prisms. Winter offers perfect timing for these upgrades while families spend more time indoors seeking comfort and renewal.

The Glass Revolution in Bathroom Design

Glass has evolved from purely functional material into sculptural medium that defines modern bathroom aesthetics. Bathroom remodel ideas featuring transparent and reflective surfaces create illusions of expanded space while amplifying natural light throughout enclosed areas. Like adding windows where walls once stood, strategic glass placement opens cramped quarters into airy retreats.

Frameless Shower Doors as Architectural Statements

Minimalist Design Philosophy

Frameless shower doors remain a top trend for their sleek and modern look, with even more minimalist designs featuring ultra-thin hardware and barely-there handles that maximize views of intricate tile work. These transparent barriers disappear visually while containing water effectively. The absence of chunky frames creates seamless transitions between wet and dry zones.

Ultra-Clear Glass Technology

Current trends include ultra-clear or low-iron glass, which provides exceptional clarity paired with minimalist door handles like the ladder handle. This crystal transparency showcases beautiful tile patterns and fixtures without visual interference. Like museum display cases that vanish to reveal artwork, modern glass lets bathroom design speak clearly.

Installation Flexibility

Glass shower enclosures adapt to various bathroom layouts from compact corners to spacious walk-in configurations. Custom cutting allows precise fitting around unusual angles or existing plumbing locations. This adaptability makes frameless doors viable for both new construction and renovation projects.

Mirror Walls as Space Expansion Magic

Visual Depth Creation

Full mirror walls double perceived bathroom dimensions through reflected light and architectural details. Strategic placement opposite windows bounces natural light deeper into interior spaces throughout the day. This optical illusion costs far less than structural expansion while delivering similar spatial benefits.

Moisture-Resistant Options

Modern bathroom mirrors feature special coatings that resist fog and water damage from shower steam. These treatments maintain clarity longer than traditional mirrors that cloud and streak constantly. Quality materials withstand humid environments that would destroy standard bedroom mirrors quickly.

Vanity Mirrors as Functional Art

Circular Mirror Renaissance

One of the most popular trends in bathroom vanity mirrors features circular mirrors with their soft lines and minimalist appeal that complement various design styles. Round shapes soften angular bathroom architecture while providing adequate reflection for grooming tasks. These geometric forms function like punctuation marks that complete design sentences.

Integrated Lighting Innovation

Backlit mirrors and wall washing with integrated ceiling lighting add minimalist edge to bathroom spaces. Built-in illumination eliminates shadows that make morning routines challenging while creating ambient glow for evening relaxation. This dual functionality combines practical needs with atmospheric mood creation.

Smart Mirror Technology

Advanced mirrors provide latest news, weather updates, and even daily schedules during morning preparation routines. These digital displays integrate seamlessly into reflective surfaces without compromising mirror function. Technology becomes invisible until needed, maintaining clean aesthetic lines.

Glass Organizers as Storage Solutions

Floating Shelf Systems

Transparent glass shelves appear to hover against walls like magic, storing toiletries without visual weight. These minimal storage solutions keep necessities accessible while maintaining open, uncluttered appearances. Like invisible furniture, glass organizers provide function without dominating limited square footage.

Medicine Cabinet Alternatives

Glass-front cabinets display attractive product packaging while organizing everyday items neatly. Reflective interiors multiply stored items visually, making small cabinets feel more spacious. This approach transforms storage from hidden necessity into displayed collection.

Winter Timing Strategic Advantages

Indoor Project Season

Cold weather makes bathroom renovations ideal since outdoor projects pause until spring arrives. Contractors have greater availability and flexible scheduling during slower winter months. This timing allows homeowners to enjoy upgrades immediately rather than waiting months for completion.

Immediate Comfort Returns

Winter remodels create warm, luxurious spaces exactly when families need comfort most. New heated floors and spa-like showers combat seasonal blues through daily indulgence. Unlike summer projects that wait for winter validation, fall installations deliver instant satisfaction.

Investment Value Through Glass Upgrades

Resale Appeal Enhancement

Modern glass features signal updated bathrooms that buyers notice during property tours immediately. These upgrades suggest overall home maintenance and contemporary taste that command premium pricing. Small bathrooms punch above their weight class through strategic glass applications.

Longevity and Durability

Quality glass withstands decades of use without degrading like painted surfaces or laminate materials. Tempered safety glass resists impacts while maintaining crystal clarity through years of daily exposure. This permanence makes glass upgrades smart long-term investments versus trendy alternatives.

Your bathroom deserves transformation into a personal spa where glass amplifies light, expands space, and creates modern elegance. Winter provides perfect opportunity to craft the sanctuary you’ll enjoy for years while avoiding construction during pleasant outdoor weather seasons.

Upgrading Your Shower Experience

Walk-in showers have become the most popular choice for modern bathroom updates. Glass enclosures make spaces feel larger and easier to clean than traditional shower curtains. Multiple shower heads and built-in benches add spa-like luxury to your daily routine.

Tile choices can completely change the look and feel of your shower area. Large format tiles create clean lines with fewer grout lines to maintain. Natural stone and subway tiles remain popular choices that work with many design styles.

Lighting That Makes a Difference

Good lighting transforms how your bathroom looks and functions throughout the day. Layer different types of lighting for the best results in any space. Task lighting around mirrors helps with grooming while ambient lighting creates a relaxing atmosphere.

LED fixtures use less energy and last longer than traditional bulbs. Dimmer switches let you adjust brightness levels for different activities and times of day. Consider adding a small chandelier or pendant lights for unexpected style elements.

Choosing the Right Vanity

Your vanity serves as the focal point and main storage area in most bathrooms. Double sinks work well for shared spaces and busy family schedules. Single large sinks with extra counter space suit smaller rooms better.

Modern vanities come in many styles from floating designs to traditional cabinet looks. Choose materials that resist moisture and daily wear like quartz or granite countertops. Soft-close drawers and doors add quality touches that last for years.

Clever Shelving for Your Home or Business 2025

custom shelving Toronto living room

Storage challenges affect every property owner, whether residential or commercial. Custom shelving Toronto solutions can transform cluttered spaces into organized, functional areas that boost productivity and visual appeal. Smart shelving goes beyond basic storage to create systems that adapt to your specific needs and space constraints.

Smart Storage Solutions That Work

Every successful storage system starts with understanding your unique requirements. Custom shelving Toronto installations consider factors like ceiling height, wall structure, and daily usage patterns to create optimal solutions. Professional installers can maximize even the most challenging spaces, turning awkward corners and unused areas into valuable storage real estate.

Modern shelving systems offer flexibility that traditional furniture cannot match. Adjustable components allow you to reconfigure your storage as needs change over time. This adaptability makes professional installations a smart long-term investment for growing businesses and evolving households.

Materials and Design Options

Wood remains the most popular choice for both residential and commercial applications. Natural wood grain adds warmth to any space while providing durability that lasts for decades. Oak, maple, and cherry offer classic appeal, while engineered woods provide cost-effective alternatives with consistent appearance.

Metal shelving systems excel in industrial and modern commercial settings. Steel and aluminum options resist moisture and heavy loads while maintaining clean, professional appearances. These materials work particularly well in warehouses, retail spaces, and contemporary office environments.

Glass shelving creates an elegant, open feeling perfect for display purposes. Tempered glass shelves safely hold books, decorative items, and retail merchandise while maintaining visual lightness. This option works beautifully in upscale retail environments and modern home libraries.

Maximizing Small Spaces

Vertical storage transforms rooms with limited floor space. Wall-mounted systems draw the eye upward, creating the illusion of height while providing substantial storage capacity. Corner units capture often-wasted space, turning dead zones into productive storage areas.

Multi-level systems create storage zones for different types of items. Upper shelves work well for seasonal items and archives, while lower levels accommodate frequently accessed materials. This approach keeps daily essentials within easy reach while maximizing total storage capacity.

Built-in solutions integrate seamlessly with existing architecture. Custom installations can work around obstacles like heating vents, electrical outlets, and structural elements that limit standard furniture placement. This approach creates clean, professional appearances that complement your existing design.

Commercial Applications

Retail environments benefit from strategic shelving that guides customer flow and highlights merchandise. Display shelving can create focal points that draw attention to featured products while maintaining organized inventory systems. Professional installation ensures shelving can handle varying product weights and seasonal changes.

Office spaces require storage that balances accessibility with professional appearance. File storage, reference materials, and supplies need organized homes that support daily workflows. Well-designed systems reduce time spent searching for materials while maintaining clean, productive work environments.

Key benefits of professional commercial shelving include:

  • Improved organization and efficiency
  • Better use of available space
  • Professional appearance that impresses clients
  • Reduced time spent looking for items
  • Flexibility to adapt as business needs change
  • Compliance with commercial building codes
  • Increased property value and functionality

Planning Your Installation

Successful projects begin with careful measurement and planning. Professional installers evaluate wall structure, electrical systems, and architectural features before recommending solutions. This assessment prevents costly mistakes and ensures installations meet safety requirements.

Budget considerations include materials, labor, and any necessary wall preparation. Quality installations represent long-term investments that pay dividends through improved organization and space utilization. Professional work also includes warranties that protect your investment.

Timeline planning helps minimize disruption to daily operations. Most residential installations complete within one to two days, while commercial projects may require staged installation to maintain business continuity. Clear communication with installers helps coordinate schedules and expectations for smooth project completion.

When exploring the latest modern bathroom design Toronto trends, you will find a focus on creating a personal sanctuary that is both beautiful and highly functional. These new designs blend clean lines with luxurious materials to transform a utilitarian space into a spa-like retreat.

The Modern Spa Aesthetic

Today’s bathroom designs are heavily influenced by the desire for a serene and calming environment within the home. A key element in achieving this is through a modern bathroom design Toronto professionals often recommend: the integration of natural materials and open concepts. This approach creates a space that feels both larger and more connected to nature, promoting a sense of relaxation.

Walk-in showers with frameless glass enclosures are a cornerstone of this trend, creating a seamless and airy feel. These are often paired with large-format tiles in porcelain or natural stone, which minimize grout lines and contribute to a clean, uninterrupted look. Floating vanities are another popular feature, as they open up floor space and give the illusion of a larger room while providing a sleek, contemporary silhouette.

Incorporating elements of biophilic design, such as adding plants or using materials like reclaimed wood, can further enhance the connection to nature. Earthy, neutral color palettes, including warm greys, beiges, and soft whites, serve as a tranquil backdrop for these natural textures. The overall goal is to create a personal oasis where you can unwind from the stresses of daily life.

Functionality Meets High Tech

Beyond aesthetics, modern bathrooms are becoming smarter and more efficient. Homeowners are increasingly incorporating technology that adds convenience and a touch of luxury to their daily routines. These technological enhancements are designed to be intuitive and seamlessly blend into the overall design of the space.

Smart fixtures are leading this technological wave. This includes everything from digital faucets that provide precise temperature control to smart showers that can be activated and customized with voice commands. Smart mirrors are also gaining popularity, offering features like built-in lighting with adjustable color temperatures, anti-fog capabilities, and even integrated screens that can display the weather or news.

Functionality extends to clever storage solutions that keep the space clutter-free and organized. These features are essential for maintaining the minimalist aesthetic of a modern bathroom.

  • Built-in shelving and recessed niches in the shower.
  • Custom vanities with integrated drawer organizers.
  • Medicine cabinets with hidden electrical outlets.
  • Heated towel racks for added comfort.
  • Energy-efficient, low-flow toilets and faucets.
  • Voice-activated and motion-sensor lighting.
  • Underfloor heating for a touch of warmth.
  • Waterproof Bluetooth speakers for in-shower audio.
  • Automated exhaust fans that detect humidity levels.

Personalizing Your Space

The final layer of a successful bathroom remodel involves adding personalized touches that make the space uniquely yours. While minimalism is a key theme, there is still plenty of room for character and style. This can be achieved through the careful selection of fixtures, hardware, and decorative elements.

Mixing metals is a popular trend that adds depth and visual interest. Combining finishes like matte black, brushed brass, or gunmetal for faucets, showerheads, and cabinet hardware creates a curated and sophisticated look. Statement lighting, such as a stylish pendant or modern sconces, can also serve as a focal point and elevate the overall design.

Ultimately, a bathroom remodel is an opportunity to create a space that perfectly balances form and function. By combining spa-like elements with smart technology and personal touches, you can design a modern bathroom that is both an inspiring retreat and a valuable addition to your home.

Maximize Small Spaces With Smart Shelving

custom-shelving-toronto living room

Small homes and apartments present unique storage challenges that require creative solutions and strategic planning approaches. Professional custom shelving Toronto installations can transform cramped spaces into organized, functional areas that feel larger and more comfortable.

Vertical Wall Space

Floor-to-ceiling shelving systems draw the eye upward and create the illusion of higher ceilings in compact rooms. Install shelves at varying heights to accommodate different item sizes while maintaining visual interest.

Corner spaces often go unused but provide excellent opportunities for triangular or curved shelving units. These custom solutions fit perfectly into awkward spaces that standard furniture cannot accommodate effectively.

Choose Multi-Functional Design Options

Shelving units that serve multiple purposes maximize value and functionality in space-constrained environments throughout your home. Combine open shelving with closed storage compartments to hide clutter while displaying decorative items.

Built-in desk areas with overhead shelving create home office spaces without requiring separate furniture pieces. These integrated solutions work particularly well in bedrooms or living areas where space is limited.

Strategic Placement for Maximum Impact

Position shelving units near natural light sources to make spaces feel more open and airy overall. Light-colored shelving materials reflect available light and contribute to the perception of larger room dimensions.

Floating shelves create clean lines without visual bulk that floor-standing units typically add to rooms. Professional installation provides secure mounting that supports heavier items while maintaining sleek appearances.

Material Selection Considerations

Light wood tones and white finishes help small spaces feel larger and brighter than darker alternatives. Glass shelving provides storage without blocking light flow or creating visual barriers in tight spaces.

Metal brackets and supports offer industrial aesthetics while providing strong support for heavier storage needs. Wire shelving systems allow air circulation while maintaining visibility of stored items behind them.

Creative Storage Solutions

Under-stair areas provide excellent opportunities for custom shelving that maximizes otherwise wasted space effectively. Slanted shelving follows stair angles while providing practical storage for books, shoes, or household items.

Pull-out shelving systems in closets double storage capacity by providing access to items stored in deep spaces. These sliding mechanisms make every inch of available space functional and easily accessible.

Room-Specific Applications

Kitchen pantries benefit from adjustable shelving that accommodates different container sizes and food storage requirements efficiently. Deep shelves work well for bulk items while shallow shelves suit spice containers and small packages.

Smart shelving strategies include:

  • Adjustable shelf heights for changing storage needs
  • Pull-out drawers in lower cabinet sections
  • Door-mounted racks for cleaning supplies or spices
  • Corner lazy Susan systems for easy access
  • Vertical dividers for baking sheets and cutting boards
  • Under-cabinet sliding baskets for produce storage

Bedroom Organization Systems

Built-in wardrobes with customized shelving maximize clothing storage while maintaining clean room aesthetics throughout the space. Combine hanging rods with shelving compartments for shoes, folded items, and accessories.

Nightstand alternatives using wall-mounted shelving free up floor space while providing surfaces for lamps and personal items. These solutions work particularly well in very small bedrooms where traditional furniture overwhelms the space.

Living Room Display Ideas

Entertainment centers with integrated shelving organize media equipment while providing display space for books and decorative objects. Custom units fit perfectly around televisions and existing architectural features.

Built-in bookcases frame doorways or windows to add storage without consuming valuable floor space. These architectural elements enhance room character while solving storage challenges elegantly.

Installation and Safety Considerations

Professional installation guarantees proper wall anchoring and weight distribution for safe, long-lasting shelving systems throughout your home. Load calculations prevent overloading that could cause structural damage or safety hazards.

Building codes may require permits for extensive built-in shelving projects that alter room structures significantly. Professional contractors handle permit requirements and inspections to meet all local regulations properly.

Long-Term Planning Benefits

Custom shelving grows with changing needs through adjustable components and modular design approaches over time. Quality materials and professional installation create storage solutions that serve families for decades.

Investment in well-designed shelving systems increases home value while improving daily organization and functionality. These improvements make small spaces more livable and appealing to future buyers when selling time arrives.

Modern bathroom ideas double vanity

Creating a bathroom that feels like a luxury spa retreat requires careful planning and attention to current design trends. These modern bathroom ideas Toronto homeowners are embracing combine functionality with striking visual appeal to create spaces that impress guests and provide daily relaxation.

Floating vanities provide visual space underneath while offering practical storage for daily necessities. Wall-mounted fixtures reduce visual clutter while making floor cleaning easier and more efficient.

Choose Statement Lighting Features

Dramatic lighting transforms ordinary bathrooms into sophisticated spaces that rival high-end hotels and spas. Layer different light sources including ambient, task, and accent lighting for maximum visual impact.

Pendant lights flanking mirrors create symmetrical elegance while providing even illumination for grooming tasks. LED strip lighting behind mirrors adds soft backlighting that enhances the overall atmosphere.

Select Premium Materials Wisely

Natural stone surfaces like marble or granite create luxurious focal points that increase home value significantly. Choose materials that complement each other while providing practical benefits like water resistance and easy maintenance.

Large-format tiles reduce grout lines and create seamless appearances that make spaces feel more expansive. Textured surfaces add visual interest while providing slip resistance in wet areas.

Install Walk-In Shower Systems

Curbless showers with glass enclosures create open, airy feelings that make small bathrooms appear larger. Multiple shower heads and body sprays provide spa-like experiences for daily routines.

Built-in benches and niches add functionality without compromising the clean aesthetic most homeowners desire. Proper waterproofing prevents moisture damage while maintaining beautiful appearances for years.

Incorporate Smart Technology Features

Modern bathrooms benefit from technology integration that enhances comfort and convenience for busy families. Smart mirrors with integrated lighting and defogging capabilities combine multiple functions in single fixtures.

Heated floors provide luxury comfort during cold Canadian winters while adding significant resale value. Programmable thermostats allow customized temperature control for different times of day.

Create Focal Points With Color

Neutral color palettes provide timeless backgrounds that won’t look dated in future years ahead. Add personality through carefully selected accent colors in towels, artwork, or decorative accessories.

Popular design elements include:

  • Contrasting vanity colors against neutral wall tones
  • Bold accent walls behind freestanding tubs

Add Luxury Fixtures and Finishes

Freestanding tubs create dramatic centerpieces that define the entire space’s character and style direction. Choose fixtures with consistent finish materials to create cohesive design themes throughout the room.

High-quality faucets and hardware justify their premium costs through superior performance and lasting beauty. Matte black and brushed gold finishes provide contemporary alternatives to traditional chrome options.

Consider Professional Design Consultation

Bathroom renovations involve complex plumbing, electrical, and waterproofing requirements that benefit from professional expertise and experience. Designers help homeowners avoid costly mistakes while achieving their vision within budget constraints.

Professional consultations provide access to trade-only products and materials not available to general consumers. Design professionals coordinate with contractors to ensure proper installation and finishing details.

Plan for Long-Term Enjoyment

Select timeless design elements that will remain appealing for decades rather than following short-term trends. Quality materials and professional installation create bathrooms that maintain their beauty and functionality over time.

Consider how your needs might change over time and incorporate universal design principles where appropriate. Proper planning creates bathrooms that serve your family well while adding significant value to your home investment.

Upgrade Your Bathroom With These 8 Easy Fixes

luxury bathroom with modern bathroom design ideas like glass doors and plants

The bathroom is one of the most important spaces in your home, serving both functional and relaxation purposes. Implementing modern bathroom design ideas can transform this essential space without requiring a complete renovation. With strategic updates focused on aesthetics and functionality, you can create a refreshed bathroom that feels luxurious and contemporary.

Simple Fixture Swaps for Instant Impact

Replacing outdated fixtures offers one of the quickest ways to modernize your bathroom. Consider swapping old faucets for sleek matte black or brushed gold alternatives that immediately catch the eye. Shower heads can be upgraded to rainfall models or water-saving options with multiple spray patterns in just one of many modern bathroom design ideas.

Even something as simple as changing cabinet handles and drawer pulls to contemporary styles can tie your modern bathroom design ideas together cohesively. These small changes require minimal tools and expertise but deliver significant visual impact.

Lighting Solutions That Transform the Space

Lighting plays a crucial role in bathroom functionality and ambiance. Replace harsh overhead lighting with layered options including sconces beside mirrors, LED strip lighting under floating vanities, or a statement pendant light.

Smart lighting systems allow you to adjust brightness and color temperature to match your mood—bright and energizing for morning routines or soft and relaxing for evening baths. Proper lighting placement can also make small bathrooms appear larger and more open, a key principle in modern design.

Paint and Tile Updates Without Major Demolition

You don’t need to tear out all your existing tile to achieve a modern look. Consider painting over dated wall tiles with specialized epoxy paint in contemporary colors like sage green, navy blue, or crisp white. For floors, peel-and-stick tiles can be applied over existing surfaces for a fraction of replacement costs.

For a more permanent solution, tile refinishing services can reglaze your existing tiles in updated colors. Adding a bold accent wall with washable, moisture-resistant paint introduces personality without overwhelming the space.

Smart Storage Solutions for Clutter-Free Counters

Nothing undermines a modern bathroom like cluttered surfaces. Invest in thoughtful storage solutions like floating shelves, medicine cabinets with hidden outlets, or under-sink organizers designed to work around plumbing. Attractive containers for frequently used items keep essentials accessible while maintaining visual harmony.

Wall-mounted or over-toilet storage maximizes vertical space in smaller bathrooms. Consider multifunctional pieces like mirrors with built-in storage or vanities with specialized compartments for hair tools and skincare products.

Eco-Friendly Updates That Save Money

Modern bathroom design increasingly emphasizes sustainability alongside style. Low-flow toilets, aerated faucets, and water-efficient showerheads significantly reduce water consumption without compromising performance. LED lighting lasts longer while using less electricity than traditional bulbs.

Consider adding a small potted plant or two—they naturally filter air and add a touch of biophilic design that connects your space to nature. Many eco-friendly bathroom products now come in stylish designs that enhance rather than detract from your aesthetic vision.

Accessory Coordination for Designer Appeal

Creating a cohesive look through carefully selected accessories elevates your bathroom’s overall impression. Choose a consistent finish for towel bars, toilet paper holders, and robe hooks—matte black, brushed nickel, or champagne bronze options offer contemporary appeal.

Textiles like plush towels, a non-slip bath mat, and a quality shower curtain in complementary colors tie the room together.

Curated decorative elements like a sleek soap dispenser, minimalist artwork, or a small vase of fresh greenery add personality without creating visual clutter.

Technology Integration for Modern Convenience

Today’s bathrooms increasingly incorporate thoughtful technology for enhanced functionality. Consider upgrading to a programmable towel warmer, a Bluetooth speaker mirror for music during your routine, or a digital shower control system.

Motion-sensor soap dispensers and faucets reduce surface touching and water waste. Even a simple addition like a shower caddy with a phone holder can make your daily routine more enjoyable. These technology touches signal a thoroughly modern bathroom design approach.

Grout Refresh and Sealing for a Clean Look

Sometimes the most impactful bathroom upgrade is also the most overlooked. Dingy, stained grout lines age your bathroom regardless of other elements.

Cleaning and resealing existing grout—or applying a grout colorant to change its hue entirely—creates a fresh, well-maintained appearance. This detail-oriented task requires little financial investment but delivers remarkable results, especially when moving from discolored grout to a crisp white or complementary color that enhances your tile.

Properly sealed grout also prevents moisture damage and mold growth, extending the life of your bathroom surfaces.

Build Shelves That Wow And Organize in 2025

Modern living room with sleek shelving in Toronto apartment

Transforming your Toronto home with thoughtful storage solutions can dramatically improve both aesthetics and functionality. Professional shelving Toronto specialists offer customized options that maximize space while complementing your home’s architecture and design style.

With the right shelving systems, you can showcase treasured items, conceal clutter, and create a more organized, peaceful living environment throughout your house.

Space-Maximizing Shelving Strategies for Toronto’s Unique Housing

Toronto’s housing market features diverse architectural styles from Victorian row houses to modern condos, each presenting unique storage challenges. Older homes often lack sufficient closet space, while newer builds may feature open-concept designs requiring creative zone definition.

Working with specialized shelving Toronto companies ensures your storage solutions address your specific space constraints. Floor-to-ceiling bookcase systems make use of vertical space in homes with high ceilings, while floating shelves preserve floor space in compact urban dwellings.

Consider the architectural features of your Toronto home—bay windows, alcoves, and unusual angles can be transformed into distinctive display areas with custom shelving.

Living Room Shelving That Balances Form and Function

The living room serves as both a personal retreat and entertainment hub, requiring shelving that accommodates media components, books, and decorative objects. Statement built-ins surrounding your television create a focal point while providing abundant storage for electronics, games, and media.

Open shelving interspersed with closed cabinetry offers the perfect balance—display your curated collections while concealing less attractive necessities.

Consider asymmetrical arrangements or geometric patterns that serve as architectural interest pieces themselves. Materials like warm woods, glass, and metal can be combined to create distinctive shelving that reflects Toronto’s diverse industrial and traditional design influences.

Kitchen Organization Beyond Standard Cabinetry

Kitchen shelving requires special consideration for both practicality and style. Open shelving for everyday dishes encourages efficient meal preparation while adding visual interest to your kitchen design.

Adjustable systems allow flexibility as your needs change, while specialized inserts organize everything from spices to bakeware. Consider a dramatic pantry wall with varied shelf depths to accommodate different food containers.

Pull-out shelving solutions maximize access to deep cabinet spaces, while corner systems solve the perennial problem of hard-to-reach storage. Today’s kitchen shelving incorporates smart features like integrated lighting, making items easier to locate while creating ambiance.

Bedroom Shelving for Serene, Clutter-Free Sleeping Spaces

Bedrooms require thoughtful shelving that promotes relaxation while providing sufficient storage. Headboard shelving creates a striking design element while keeping nighttime essentials within reach.

Walk-in closets benefit from customized shelving systems that maximize every inch while showcasing your wardrobe. For children’s rooms, adjustable shelving accommodates changing needs from toy storage to study materials as they grow. Consider multipurpose furniture with integrated shelving like window seats with drawers underneath or bed frames with bookcase headboards.

The trend toward minimalism in bedroom design favors concealed storage options that maintain visual calm while providing ample organization.

Sustainable and Locally-Sourced Shelving Options

Environmentally conscious Toronto homeowners increasingly seek sustainable shelving solutions. Reclaimed wood shelving tells a story while reducing environmental impact. Several Toronto craftspeople specialize in transforming salvaged materials into distinctive shelving pieces with unique character and minimal carbon footprint.

Look for FSC-certified wood options or shelving made from rapidly renewable materials like bamboo. Local manufacturing reduces transportation emissions while supporting Toronto’s skilled artisans and economy. Consider the full lifecycle of your shelving—quality craftsmanship ensures longevity, reducing the need for frequent replacements and associated resource consumption.

Technology Integration in Modern Shelving Systems

Today’s shelving goes beyond simple storage to incorporate smart home features. Integrated lighting systems with motion sensors illuminate shelves when you approach. Charging stations discreetly built into shelving units keep devices powered without unsightly cords.

Climate-controlled display cases protect valuable collections, while humidity-resistant materials perform well in Toronto’s seasonal weather changes. Some systems even incorporate voice control technology, allowing you to adjust lighting or access information about displayed items.

As Toronto homes become increasingly connected, shelving evolves from passive storage to interactive elements of your home’s technology ecosystem.

Mini Bathroom Magic: Small Space Solutions

small-bathroom-renovation-solutions standalone white bathtub by window

When you step into a tiny bathroom, the limited space makes it easy to feel overwhelmed. Yet within those compact walls lies incredible potential for organization and style. Maximizing every square inch can transform your small bathroom from a cluttered challenge into a serene, well-organized oasis. Let’s explore nine innovative solutions that will revolutionize your small bathroom renovation.

The Psychology of Small Space Organization

Before diving into specific solutions, it’s essential to understand that a successful small bathroom organization begins with a shift in perspective. Rather than viewing your compact space as a limitation, consider it an opportunity to embrace creative storage solutions. When approaching small bathroom renovation intentionally, we often discover they can be even more functional than larger ones.

Vertical Victory: Making Your Walls Work Harder

The first key to small bathroom success lies in understanding vertical space utilization. Your walls represent valuable real estate far beyond the typical towel bar. Consider installing floating shelves at varying heights, creating a visually interesting display while maximizing storage capacity. A well-planned vertical storage system can triple your space without consuming precious floor area.

Cabinet Creativity: Hidden Storage Solutions

Modern cabinet design has evolved specifically to address the challenges of small bathrooms. Today’s vanity cabinets incorporate pull-out organizers, built-in electrical outlets, and adjustable shelving systems that transform limited under-sink space into an organizational powerhouse.

By selecting cabinets with built-in dividers and drawer organizers, you can create designated spaces for every item, eliminating the chaos that often plagues small bathroom storage.

The Illusion of Space: Smart Design Choices

Choosing the right storage solutions isn’t just about functionality—it’s about creating the illusion of more space. Mirrored cabinet doors serve double duty by providing storage while reflecting light and making the room appear larger. Glass shelving creates a lighter, more open feel than solid materials while still providing robust storage options.

Nine Transformative Storage Solutions

  1. Over-the-Toilet Storage Systems: Modern over-toilet organizers now include sleek, cabinet-style units with adjustable shelving and hidden storage compartments. These systems can add up to six cubic feet of storage space without consuming any floor area.
  2. Door-Mounted Organizers: The back of your bathroom door represents prime storage real estate. New magnetic mounting systems eliminate the need for over-door hooks, creating a cleaner look while providing extensive storage for toiletries and towels.
  3. Pull-Out Cabinet Towers: Narrow cabinet units that pull out from otherwise unused spaces beside the vanity can create up to four feet of vertical storage in just six inches of floor space.
  4. Shower Corner Caddies: Contemporary corner storage units now feature adjustable shelving, removable baskets, and rust-resistant materials that maximize often-overlooked shower corner spaces.
  5. Magnetic Wall Strips: Installing magnetic strips behind decorative panels creates invisible storage for metal items like tweezers, nail clippers, and other small tools.
  6. Floating Vanities: Wall-mounted vanities create the illusion of more floor space while incorporating modern storage solutions like pull-out organizers and hidden compartments.
  7. Multi-Functional Mirrors: Medicine cabinets have evolved into sophisticated storage systems with internal electrical outlets, adjustable shelving, and even built-in lighting systems.
  8. Recessed Wall Storage: Creating storage between wall studs provides deep storage space without protruding into the room, perfect for toilet paper, cleaning supplies, and extra toiletries.
  9. Under-Sink Drawer Systems: Custom drawer systems that account for plumbing can transform awkward under-sink spaces into organized storage areas with pull-out bins and adjustable dividers.

Making It Work: Implementation Strategies

Success in small bathroom storage comes from combining multiple solutions that suit your specific needs. Start by analyzing your daily routine and the items you use most frequently. This understanding will help you prioritize which solutions will impact your daily life the most.

Remember that effective small bathroom storage isn’t about cramming in as many organizers as possible—it’s about creating a thoughtful system that makes your space more functional and enjoyable to use. Consider how different solutions can work together to create a cohesive organization system that simplifies your daily routine.

By implementing these storage solutions strategically, you can create a bathroom that feels spacious, organized, and perfectly suited to your needs, regardless of size. The key lies in seeing the potential in every corner and making informed choices about maximizing that space effectively.

A framed glass enclosure can instantly transform your bathroom by making it look more modern and elegant. It’s amazing how contemporary bathroom and modern living room ideas incorporate the beauty of glass. The transparency of the glass allows natural light to flow into the room, creating a bright and airy atmosphere. Additionally, the framed glass creates a focal point in the bathroom, drawing the eye and making the space feel larger and more luxurious.

For an even more striking look, consider a frameless glass shower. This design provides an unobstructed view and creates a seamless transition between the shower and the rest of the bathroom. A frameless glass shower also eliminates the need for bulky metal frames, creating a sleek and minimalist look.

Whether you choose clear or frosted glass for your shower enclosure, both options can add a touch of sophistication to your bathroom. And with the addition of a rainfall showerhead, you can create a spa-like experience in the comfort of your own home.

Organize intelligently with mix-and-match shelving

Built-in shelving is a versatile and cost-effective solution for transforming any space. Whether you’re looking to go for a modern, industrial look with iron pipe brackets and reclaimed wood boards, or keep it classic with budget-friendly wooden boards and black brackets, the possibilities are endless. You can even mix and match materials like wood and metal for a unique look.

Customizing the shelving height and depth to suit your space is easy and practical, and adding doors for concealed storage can be a great way to keep your space looking neat and tidy. Displays, artwork, and accent lighting can also be incorporated to take your built-in shelving to the next level.

Swap hollow core doors for stylish closet updates

An often overlooked and fast remodel, new closet doors make small spaces feel freshly upgraded. Light-colored wooden doors give a beach cottage vibe, while painted MDF doors complement bold wall colors. For walk-in closets, choose sliding barn doors on a hardware track to maximize access and space savings. Check for standard door sizes and hardware to simplify installation.

3 Storage Solutions and Their Merits

Keeping your home in beautiful, working order is what Keystone Home Products is here for. Organization is kind of our thing! So, we’d like to share with you 3 different storage solutions and their merits. That way, you can keep your home looking and functioning its best.

Wooden Closet Organizers

Wooden closet organizers are really a game changer for any home. People are so used to struggling with their closet space that they often have no idea there’s a better way. Closet organizers are the solution to any closet’s space issue.

The wooden closet organizers we offer are the most perfect for walk-in closets. Say goodbye to the days of relying on one sad hanger bar and an above-bar shelf. You can do better!

What is it about closet organizers that makes them worth the hassle of installing?

  • Wooden closet organizers offer multiple ways to store things: hanger bars, drawers, shelves, and more.
  • A closet organizer helps you use up more vertical space than you normally would with built-in closet storage features.
  • Because of the multiple storage solutions inherent to closet organizers, you use space more efficiently. That means you can more comfortably fit your things in the same amount of space as before.
  • Your things are more accessible. Because of the many storage solutions built into the organizer, you don’t have to pack as many things into one drawer, box, or shelf. That makes accessing individual items much easier.

Wire Shelving

Next up, we have wire shelving. Wire shelving isn’t most people’s favorite, simply based on appearances. But, when it comes to function, wire shelving is actually some of the best there is.

When it comes to wire shelving’s merits, there are many. For one thing, because it isn’t a solid surface, dust and grime doesn’t settle on it so easily. This makes it excellent for kitchen storage where things like flour and sugar can fall through to the floor to be swept up.

Additionally, wire shelving’s non-solid nature means you can hang things from it or hook things through it. In a kitchen setting, that means a great place for hooking a net of garlic or onions.

Glass Shelving

Glass shelving comes with different merits than wire shelving. This shelving is more suited to somewhere like the living room or an office space.

What sets glass shelving apart from other types of shelving is that it’s solid, like wood, but still allows light flow, like wire. This makes it great for displaying more lightweight things like trophies, perfume, or other decor. The light will flow through the shelf and allow quality illumination of the displayed contents.

Glass and Mirror for Bathroom Renovation in Toronto

A bathroom is such an important part of your home’s overall appeal. When a bathroom goes down in quality, the whole house feels harder to put up with. That’s why bathroom renovations, alongside kitchen renovations, are the most common way people improve their houses. A newly renovated bathroom can make a house much more pleasant to live in, or fetch a much higher price on the market. What does Keystone Home Products have to do with bathroom renovation? Well, we have all of the glass and mirrors you need for your bathroom renovation, available right here in Toronto.

Replace Bathroom Mirrors

Even if you can’t opt for a complete bathroom renovation, sometimes just replacing an old mirror can make a huge difference. An old mirror can look really dingy. Those in frames can gather dust and mildew along the edge of the frame. Those that are frameless can end up chipped or scratched along the edges.

A fresh, new mirror can brighten up your bathroom immensely. Plus, if you want a bit of an update to style, change the shape of your mirror. A frameless, square mirror held up with nothing but anchor clips is such an outdated style. Imagine, instead, a nice, big oval with no visible anchor clips. Your bathroom is looking fresher already!

Replace Shower Enclosures

Want to take things a step further? Consider replacing your old shower enclosure. If a mirror can look dingy, a shower enclosure can look downright decrepit after decades of use. One of our new shower enclosures is just the thing.

Keystone Home Products has both framed and frameless shower enclosures to choose from. While a steel frame around each piece of your enclosure may look a bit dated, framed shower enclosures are more affordable. Because the edges of the glass are reinforced with the frame, the glass doesn’t have to be as thick or as high quality. Therefore, it’s cheaper to produce and to purchase.

Framed shower enclosures may be more affordable, but frameless shower enclosures are more modern and attractive. They look very clean-cut. Plus, these enclosures tend to function more smoothly. The heavy, thick glass doesn’t wobble about like the thinner panes in framed enclosures sometimes does.

Custom Mirror and Glass

If your bathroom comes with some fun dimensions, we’ve got you covered. Keystone Home Products is happy to help you with custom mirror and glass. If that means trimming a mirror to fit a particularly narrow wall, we can do it.

Regardless of what you need for your bathroom, we can help. Glass shelving to wire, shower enclosures to vanity mirrors, we’re prepared to outfit your home with everything it needs. Just give us a call if you have questions about our products or how to custom order.

Why Glass Shelving Improves Kitchens

In our quest to obtain the perfect kitchen design, mankind has made a few great discoveries. For example, make sure your cabinet knobs aren’t preventing your dishwasher from opening. Or, measure the fridge space before buying a new fridge. In terms of design style, we’ve also discovered that glass shelving looks fantastic in a kitchen. Let us tell you a few ways glass shelving improves kitchens like yours.

Window Herb Garden

If you want to know how glass shelving improves kitchens, the first thing to consider is a window herb garden. Who doesn’t love fresh kitchen herbs? Do you have any idea how easy they are to grow? Every time you cook, you can select a fresh herb right from your window herb garden to season your meal. The plants will just keep growing.

What does that have to do with glass shelving? Well, glass shelving is the perfect way to set up a window herb garden without completely disrupting the light flow in your kitchen. You may be wondering how you could have a window garden without a bay window. The great news is, it’s simple.

Your window probably has a sill, right? The inset part of the wall is often enough space to install a glass shelf. So long as there’s enough space to mount the shelf with adequate support, you can simply install glass shelving right in front of your window. And, the window can still be opened. Awning windows simply require enough space to rotate the window crank and sliding windows just require some care not to knock things off the shelves.

Liquor Shelving

Got a bit of free wall space in your kitchen? Liquor shelving is a really classic way to use glass shelving to improve kitchens. Start by putting up some mirror backsplash if you really want your liquor shelf to be a hit. It will reflect the bottles back on themselves and make your stash look twice as large. Then, install some glass shelving right in front of that backsplash and stack your bottles high.

The glass of the shelves allows light to flow through one bottle to another and prevents the wall from looking too full, even if it’s chock full of booze. It’s amazing what some simple transparency can do!

Open Concept Dish Storage

Don’t like the bulk of overhead cabinets? Keep your kitchen feeling spacious by relying on glass shelving for open concept dish storage. Not only is glass excellent at letting light pass easily through your kitchen, it’s also moisture proof. Plus, storing dishes on glass shelving gives it a neat floating effect.

Wire Shelving for Professional Kitchens in Toronto

Keeping a kitchen in perfect working order is vital for the kitchen to function. This is doubly true for professional kitchens. One of the most important parts of kitchen organization is shelving. If you work in a professional kitchen, you know how important enough of the right shelving is. So here’s how Keystone Home Products can help.

Why Professional Kitchens Use Wire Shelving

Professional kitchens, by and large, use a lot of the same tactics, all across the world. One of those tactics is using wire shelving. Why is it that wire shelving is universally loved by professional cooks?

Cleanliness

The first reason wire shelving is far superior to solid shelving in a kitchen is cleanliness. Can things get on the wires? Absolutely. But, it’s much less likely. While something sticky could get onto a wire shelf and need wiping off, non-sticky substances wall right through. Hopefully, you wouldn’t be putting dirty objects on the clean shelving. But, sometimes when you walk by a shelf, a crumb escapes a plate in hand. Solid shelving ensures that crumb gathers with all the other crumbs and dust and stays put. Wire shelving allows it to fall through to the floor where it will get swept up later.

There is only one flaw in that argument. Did you spot it? What happens if the crumb falls through the shelving and into a bowl? Well, the fact is, any open-top bowl holds the same risk while stored on solid shelving. However, the dishes and tools in a professional kitchen have such a high use turnover rate that its rare for a day to go by when it isn’t being pulled off the shelf and used. Any stray crumb will be discarded and the bowl will be rinsed, used, and freshly washed. Do you know what doesn’t have a high turnover rate? The shelf it’s stored on. That’s why it’s so important to prevent it from building up grime at high speeds.

Accessibility

The next benefit to wire shelving is accessibility. Because wire shelving can be set up virtually anywhere in a kitchen, all of the kitchen tools are right where they’re needed. A whole wall can be lined with wire shelving if needed. The open face of it makes finding what you need easy.

Adjustability

On top of the accessibility of wire shelving, there’s also the adjustability. You can move wire shelving whenever needed and you can also adjust the shelf heights. This is ideal for kitchens, as there are many different sizes of supplies. If you have a large machine component that needs to be stored much of the time, don’t worry about a tight fight. You can adjust the bottom shelves so that it sits neatly on the bottom of the shelf without issue. Standard shelf a few inches too short for your stack of plates? Not adjustable wire shelving. Just move the next shelf up a bit.

Separate Office Spaces with Aluminum Dividers

Keeping everyone in an office comfortable can be difficult when you’re short on space. This is especially true when your office is mostly one large room. If one person types very loudly and there are three other people who are easily distracted, that one person can end up bringing down productivity levels – not to mention causing irritation. Instead of forcing everyone in the office to share the same working conditions, separate office spaces with aluminum dividers and provide people a more private work space. Here’s why.

Employee Morale

The #1 reason to separate office spaces with aluminum dividers is the improvement in employee morale. Maybe you don’t have enough space for everyone to get a separate office. However, if you have the space to provide higher level employees with their own office space, that effect still trickles down.

Higher level employees having their own space makes them more pleasant to work with. It also gives lower level employees something to work toward. After all, there’s not a lot of incentive to want a management position if you simply have to do more work from the same tiny cubicle, right?

Improved Privacy

Additionally, separate office spaces mean improved privacy. This is valuable as a piece in the employee morale puzzle, but it’s also better for clients. If you have a clientele that visits your office to meet or consult with your company, giving them a private space to talk with you and your higher level employees is invaluable. It makes everyone more comfortable and allows a much more productive consultation.

Additionally, professional phone calls are easier to make. Hearing whoever is on the other end of the phone is a lot easier without 6 other phone calls happening around you. Plus, having a bit more privacy helps a person to relax, which can actually increase productivity.

Personalized Work Environments

Separate office spaces allow for a more personalized work environment. What does this mean? It means your higher level employees are able to curate their work space in order to work more effectively. This provides a significant increase in morale as well as productivity.

Everyone in the office couldn’t burn their own candle in a shared space. However, one supervisor with their door shut wouldn’t bother anyone if they lit one (supposing it’s not against building policy). With enough office space, one could even put in a loveseat and coffee table across from their desk. Those would provide ample space for spreading out many documents or having a quiet lunch in.

What Makes a High Quality Closet Organizer?

If you’re looking for a new way to organize your closet, you may be searching for a closet organizer. The question is, how do you pick one? What is it that makes a high quality closet organizer? Let’s take a look at some of the most important features of a closet organizer.

Quality Materials and Assembly

The first and most important part of determining whether a closet organizer is high quality or not is the materials used to make it and how well it’s assembled. There are a lot of organizers in the world that may look good at first glance. However, upon closer inspection, they’re often made of cheap materials. Even worse, they’re often assembled using staples or small, weak nails from a nail gun.

If you want a high quality wooden closet organizer, you can find them at Keystone Home Products in Toronto. We provide closet organizers made to last and provide excellent storage for many years.

Diverse Storage Options

The next question of quality is how diverse the storage options are. Any company can offer a bookshelf or a dresser. However, what you need to organize your closet is something a variety of different storage solutions.

The organizers sold here at Keystone Home Products include shelving, drawers, and hanger bars. Therefore, even a completely empty closet can be turned into a neat and tidy storage space for clothing and more.

  • Shirts and jackets can be hung from the hanger bars
  • Large drawers can be used for storing pants, pajamas, and underwear
  • Small drawers are also suitable for underwear as well as socks, ties, and other accessories
  • Even better: outfit small drawers with jewelry sectioning to keep jewelry safe and easy to search through
  • Low shelves are perfect for displaying shoes
  • High shelves can house purses on display, or even storage bins with off-season clothes tucked inside

The important thing is that there’s space for every kind of thing you need to store. Moreover, one type of storage is not a one-size-fits-all solution.

Modular Design

Diverse storage is good on its own. However, even better is if you can decide, yourself, how those pieces fit together. A truly high quality closet organizer is modular. You should be able to choose if the drawers are on the left or the right. It should be up to you how high the hanger bar is – or even if there are two, stacked. Plus, if there’s additional shelving, it should be your choice how wide it is and how much there is. Finally, if your closet has strange dimensions, you should be able to fit your closet organizer from one end to the other and around a bend with no trouble. Keystone Home Products offers organizers that make that possible.

Glass Display Shelving and How to Use It

Everyone knows it’s nice to have some nice wooden shelves on hand. They’re the perfect place for storing books, CDs, boxes, and more. However, they aren’t the only kind of shelving worth having around. Wooden shelves may offer sturdiness, but there are things they don’t offer. Those things can be obtained with glass display shelving. What exactly is glass display shelving good for? Here are a few things.

Display Important Objects

One of the best things to use glass display shelving for is displaying important objects. If you want your guests’ eyes to be drawn to something, this is the perfect place to put it. It’s a great way to start conversations, offer bragging opportunities, and begin stories.

Trophies

Trophies are not only a great way to show off your accomplishments, they’re also a great way of saying something about yourself without words. Someone visiting your home or office can spot a trophy and immediately know more about you. Perhaps it’s a trophy for excelling at the visual arts, performing well with a classical instrument, or outdoing all the competitors at a big triathlon. Guests, clients, and peers can look at these trophies and immediately see that you’re a painter, musician, or athlete. That’s a great conversation starter. Plus, trophies look really cool.

Sculptures

If you were never much for competition, you may enjoy looking at things. Most people do. If you’ve ever bought a sculpture – even a cheap one – glass display shelving is the perfect place to put it. Surround it with flowers, books, or nothing at all. You and everyone who visits your home or office can enjoy it regardless.

Collectibles

Glass display shelving is an exceptionally perfect place to put collectibles. Do you seek out beautiful crystals, minerals, and rocks? A glass shelf will offer an excellent place to display them for all to see. Or, maybe you collect figurines. If that’s the case, glass shelving is just as good for sharing those. No matter what you find yourself obsessively hunting down, glass display shelving is where you can bring it all together.

Tanks and Bowls

If you like to keep a few fish, glass display shelving is a great spot to keep them. Small tanks and bowls that aren’t extremely heavy can sit neatly on one of these shelves and be displayed for all to enjoy. Decorating the surrounding shelf with plants, rocks, books, or anything else, really, will only serve to accentuate your beautiful sea life.

What Makes Glass Shelving Different?

Improved Light Flow

Glass shelving is different from wooden shelving because it allows improved light flow. Even without a dedicated display light installed above the shelving, light from around the room will flow with ease through the glass shelves. Therefore, anything displayed on these shelves will be easier to see and enjoy, as it’s always easily illuminated.

Waterproof

Finally, glass is also waterproof. That’s what makes it such a good choice for displaying a fishbowl or plants. A drop of water here and there – or even a notable leak – won’t warp the shelving in the slightest.

If you want glass display shelving for your home, you can get it for an affordable price at Keystone Home Products in Toronto. Call us if you have questions. We’re happy to help.

Replace Your Broken Shower Door in Toronto

Nothing brings your day-to-day routine grinding to a halt like part of your bathroom malfunctioning. If you’ve got a stand up shower, one such malfunction could be your shower door breaking. Not only does this mean putting any showering on hold, it can also be an alarming experience! After you’ve swept up the shattered remnants of your old shower door, the solution is easy. Call us at Keystone Home Products to replace your broken shower door.

New Glass Shower Doors

If you’ve broken your shower door, replacing your broken shower door in Toronto has never been easier. Just pay a visit to Keystone Home Products and you can bring home a new shower door in no time at all. We offer shower doors in a range of sizes and styles. Therefore, even if your shower isn’t the most simple design, you’re bound to find a style that fits.

One of the most important differences in shower doors is whether they’re frameless shower doors or framed shower doors. If a frameless shower door breaks, you can’t just replace it with a framed one. That would look terrible. Additionally, the quality difference between the rest of the enclosure and the new shower door would be very obvious. Just as well, the other way around would look bad too. A high quality, frameless shower door hung on a framed shower enclosure would look just silly.

So, get the type of door you need to match your shower enclosure and don’t worry about having to pay outrageous prices for it.

Replace the Entire Shower Enclosure

If your shower door breaks, you may want to take a moment before you replace your broken shower door. Consider: did my shower door break because the entire enclosure is poor quality? Is my shower enclosure really old and run down? If the answer is yes to one or both of these questions, you may want to replace the shower enclosure entirely.

Keystone Home Products offers shower enclosures in framed and frameless styles. Both come in multiple designs so that you can pick the design that suits you best.

Custom Shower Door Sizes

Not every shower enclosure comes with a standard door size. This is especially true of shower doors that are made to span from one side of a bathroom to the other. Narrow bathrooms with a shower taking up one full end often have doors like this.

If you need a custom shower door, you can rely on Keystone to provide. We cut glass and mirrors all the time. We can easily provide you a custom shower door, sized to your specifications.

Get Back to Normal ASAP

If you’re ready to get back to normal as soon as possible, a visit or call to Keystone Home Products is the first step. Let us know how we can assist you and we’ll ensure the replacement process is smooth and easy.

Mirror Backsplash for Your Modern Kitchen

If you want your kitchen to stand out among modern interiors, there’s a fun accent that you should consider: mirror backsplash. We know what you’re thinking: “Mirrors? As backsplash? Isn’t that a bit tacky?” And the answer is ‘no.’ The trick is knowing how to incorporate it seamlessly into your interior design. Here’s how you can incorporate mirror backsplash into your modern kitchen and take things up a notch.

Don’t Leave Your Counters Empty

The first necessity when installing a mirror backsplash is to keep your counters decorated. Leaving them completely empty will leave the mirror with little to reflect. You’ll simply get a reflection of your already-empty countertop. That’s not very exciting. In fact, it’s twice as boring as an empty counter without mirror backsplash.

Instead, keep some decor or storage containers on the counter. Some neat or artsy canisters with sugar, oats, or flour in them are a nice way to create functional decor. You could also keep flowers, cookbooks, spices, or cooking oils on display. No matter what you put on your counter, if it’s kept tidy, it will look twice as good when reflected back.

Pair It with Dark Colors

What’s the best thing to pair with mirror backsplash? Dark, rich colors. Imagine wine red, dandelion yellow, or navy blue. These colors will reflect back into the mirror, keeping the backsplash from looking overwhelming. Additionally, the light the backsplash reflects will brighten up those colors and balance them nicely.

If you want to really make your backsplash and color combo pop, add in brighter accent colors. A navy blue countertop with a vase of baby blue flowers will really stand out.

Keep Mirror Backsplash Clean

The next step to keeping mirror backsplash looking great is to keep it looking clean. Sure, we get it, fingerprints on mirror looks awful. However, if you simply incorporate wiping it down into your kitchen cleaning routine, you won’t have to worry about prints. The beautiful shine of your backsplash will brighten up your kitchen, make your workspace feel twice as big, and give the place a modern twist.

Consider Under-Cabinet Lighting

Want to make your mirror backsplash really stand out and provide a lot of use to your kitchen? Consider getting some under-cabinet lighting. Mirror backsplash is really fantastic for lighting up your kitchen. Even better is if you put the lighting right above them. Those lights will reflect right back onto the counters with twice the power. That makes it easy to see what you’re doing, even if you’re making a midnight snack.

Buy Quality Mirrors

If you’re looking for quality mirrors in Toronto, Keystone Home Products is the place to look. We offer mirror backsplash for your kitchen as well as mirrors for many other purposes. We do custom cuts and provide high quality mirrors that last for as long as you’ll have them. Call us today if you have questions about our mirrors or how to use them for backsplash. We look forward to hearing from you!

3 Closet Door Styles and How to Choose

Closet doors may not seem like they matter much, but the style you get can change your entire room’s functionality and aesthetic. That’s why we want to cover the purpose and benefits of these 3 closet door styles. That way, you can make an informed decision when replacing yours or outfitting a new house.

Sliding Panel Closet Doors

Sliding panel closet doors are very standard in most bedrooms. These cover wide, shallow closets with hanger bars and top shelving. You may have seen these in any number of designs. They’re easy to find with wood grain coating, painted white, painted black, or even made of brushed glass panes.

Sliding panel closet doors are so common because they’re excellent outward space savers. You will need enough wall-space to accommodate a 5-6 foot wide closet. However, you can even put things in front of that closet because the doors slide open. The end of a bed could come out in front of the doors, a pile of dirty laundry could pile in front of them, or a child’s playthings could be scattered there. In any case, the doors will still slide easily open.

Bi-Fold Closet Doors

The next most common closet door styles are those that fall into the bi-fold category. Bi-fold closet doors are those that open by folding in half. Two parts, connected to each other by hinges, fold flat against each other when pushed to the side. These are ideal for small closets that are only as wide as a single regular door. For example, linen closets and coat closets are common places to find these.

The reason these doors are excellent all over the house is that they can really fit just about anywhere. They can cover a narrow closet that’s not wide enough for sliding doors. However, they can also be fit onto those wide closets that sliding doors usually go on.

The benefit of fitting them on a wide closet is that you can open them to either side and reveal the entire closet at once. If you plan to put shelving in your closet, or are looking to outfit a closet where a washer and dryer are stored, this is optimal. Sliding doors would cover half of the closet, which isn’t what you’re aiming for. Two bi-fold doors, however, would be the perfect fit.

Mirror Closet Doors

Falling into both of the former categories as well are mirror closet doors. These are bi-fold or sliding doors that are outfitted with a mirror across the entire exterior face. Mirror closet doors come with the added benefits of having a large mirror on your wall. What are those benefits?

  • Mirror closet doors provide you with a full-body view of yourself for choosing outfits, taking pictures, and more.
  • Additionally, mirrors reflect light, brightening any room and making it feel more welcoming.
  • Finally, mirror closet doors reflect a space back on itself, making a room feel bigger and more spacious.

6 Uses for a Closet Organizer That Save Space Elsewhere

6 Uses for a Closet Organizer That Save Space Elsewhere

Closet organizers don’t have to be used just for clothing. If you find yourself struggling with storage space all over your home, a closet organizer may be the solution. There are a number of ways they can make storage easier for you. So, let’s take a look at 6 uses for your new closet organizer that can save you space elsewhere in your home.

1. Files

If you have a lot of files and documents to keep track of, a closet organizer is a great place for them. Deep drawers can be fitted with file bars, or you can use shelving to store existing file boxes.

If your home desk has a filing cabinet built into it, you may find that it gets overfull and hard to look through. Take some time to go through the contents and remove anything you’re not likely to need. Shred unneeded documents and archive anything you don’t foresee needing anytime soon. Then, put your little archive of old documents into a filing space in your closet organizer.

2. Books

Most people who own books already have a bookshelf in their home. However, if you enjoy buying new books (whether you read them all or not) your bookshelf will eventually fill up. Use some of the shelving on a closet organizer to retire the books that you don’t care for or that don’t look very nice. You’ll be so excited to see your bookshelf with some more space on it!

3. Photos

If you’re like most families, you probably have a huge stash of photos. Some may be from your own family, while many may have been passed down from parents and grandparents. These priceless relics should be stored properly, or they can fade or get damaged. Store photos in albums or photo boxes and stack or line them neatly on the shelves of your storage organizer.

4. Games

If you enjoy board games or card games, you probably have one of those familiar game stashes somewhere in your home. Many of us do. If you’re like most people, you struggle to find a place for them that works nicely. Free up some actual closet space and move them into a storage area with a wooden organizer. Here, they can be easily looked through and won’t crowd the space intended for storing clothes.

5. Bedding

Bedding is everyone’s worst nightmare when it comes to storage. I know I’m not the only one who’s spent years struggling to fit a folded comforter into the top of a linen closet without it falling or preventing the door from sliding closed. If you, too, struggle with storing bedding, a closet organizer is a great solution. With more space, better-fitted shelving alcoves, and easier access, storing bedding in a wooden organizer is much easier.

6. Utilities

Finally, we can’t leave out utilities. What exactly do we mean by that? Well, how about a stool? Some people opt for foldable step stools, but not everyone does. If you have an old fashioned plastic or wooden stool that prioritizes stability over space efficiency, a closet organizer is a great place to store it. Simple fit it neatly into one of the smaller, vertical, shelf cubbies and it will no longer get in your way.

How to Repair Damaged Wire Shelving

How to Repair Damaged Wire Shelving

Wire shelving is one of the most practical types of shelving you can use. While it’s not the right solution for every storage need, it excels where it belongs. Unfortunately, like every other type of storage, wire shelving isn’t impervious to damage. The question is, can it be repaired? Let’s see what it takes to repair damaged wire shelving.

Unbending the Bars

If your wire shelving is bent, it can probably be repaired pretty easily. Naturally, the first step is unbending the bars. The most important step to this is protecting the bars before unbending them.

To unbend wire shelving bars, your first instinct is probably to take some pliers to them. This is the right move. However, first and foremost, you need to wrap something around the wires or the pliers. Using a thick cloth, or wrapping a thin one multiple times, should work.

The reason this is necessary is that pliers are typically kind of serrated. Therefore, you can get a much better grip on whatever you’re manipulating. However, the coating on wire shelving is not strong enough to make it through that unscathed. Squeezing the bars tightly with unguarded pliers will cut through the coating. Then, that will expose the metal and increase the likelihood that your wire shelving will rust.

Reinforcing the Bars

If the bars on your wire shelving have been broken, they may not be beyond repair. Repair damaged wire shelving bars that are broken by reinforcing them. Then, after bending them back into place, the best way to reinforce them is with electrical tape. This tape is always available in black and white (the colors of most wire shelving).

With the broken bars lined up neatly, start a couple of inches past the break on one side and wrap at a tight angle until you’ve crossed the gap and wrapped a couple of inches past the opposite side. This should adequately hold your bars in place, so long as you’re not putting anything really hefty on them.

Replacing Irreparable Sections

Is your wire shelving damaged pretty badly? Maybe you use wire shelving in your garage and backed the car up too far. If the bends are incredibly hard to get out, or the breaks are too big, your wire shelving may be irreparable.

Fortunately, most wire shelving is somewhat modular. Therefore, one shelf can be removed from the unit and replaced with a new one. If you need to replace one or more shelves from a larger unit of wire shelving, Keystone Home Products can help. We sell a variety of wire shelving and can almost certainly get you the shelves you need. Just let us know and we’ll see what we can do.

Buying New Wire Shelving

Bedroom Vanity Mirrors

Vanities aren’t always just in the bathroom. Many people also have a vanity setup in their bedroom. This is especially true of people who spend a lot of time on their hair or makeup. A bedroom vanity can be made up of a desk with many storage compartments or, simply, a table. In either case, a mirror is usually stood on the surface of the vanity or mounted on the wall behind it.

Whether you’re looking for a standing mirror or mounted mirror, we may be able to help you. While our mirrors aren’t framed, this can actually be ideal for those wanting to custom craft a frame for their bedroom vanity. You can also fit a frameless mirror into a picture frame to simplify the framing process. In either case, a frameless mirror from Keystone is exactly what you need.

Furthermore, you might not be interested in a simple, rectangular mirror for use in your bedroom. If you want your bedroom vanity to stand out in a great way, opt for a large, round mirror instead. This will add some dynamic shape to the entire vanity setup.

Bathroom Vanity Mirror Installation

Buying a bathroom vanity mirror for cheap is the easy part of getting a new mirror. After all, it’s just a trip to Keystone Home Products. However, installing your bathroom vanity mirror is another task entirely.

How to Repair a Hole in a Closet Door

How to Repair a Hole in a Closet Door

It’s happened to the best of us: something fell against the closet door and left a big, gaping hole in it. Now you’re standing there wondering how to repair a hole in a closet door. Can it be done? How hard is it? What do you need to buy? Let’s take a deep breath and answer these questions together! After all, it’s only a closet door.

Filling the Hole

The first step to repair a hole in a closet door is to fill the hole. Most closet doors are hollow to keep them lightweight and to lower the cost of production. This can be both a blessing and a curse. While it does mean they get damaged easier, repairing the damage is easier than if it were something solid. Unfortunately, the only way to patch the hole means giving the patch something to rest against. Therefore, you must fill the hole with something.

While the easiest way to fill a hole in a closet door is by using an expanding spray foam, you can also use a combination of cardboard scraps and putty. Packing the hole with cardboard will give your patch something to adhere to and prevent it from getting knocked in again.

Patching the Hole on Cardboard Packing

If you opt for packing the hole with cardboard, patching it will be easy. You won’t even need to buy a patching kit. Most patching kits come with a piece of screen to cover the hole with and to spread putty or plaster over. However, if you’ve packed the hole in your door firmly and have a solid piece of cardboard behind the hole, you can simply apply your putty or plaster directly over it.

To repair a hole in a closet door, we recommend using putty, as its finished texture will be closer to the door’s than plaster. Carefully spread your patch putty over the hole. Then scrape any excess off with a putty knife or other flat edge. Spread additional putty over any pockets or holes in the surface, then scrape it clean again. Repeat this until the putty is smooth and covers the entire hole.

Patching the Hole on Spray Foam

To repair a hole in a closet door with spray foam, simply spray some expanding foam into the hole in the door. After letting it expand into the hole in the door, scrape away any that protrudes from it. Once it’s hardened, you can also cut away any protruding foam.

Once the foam has hardened, ensure none of it meets or passes the surface of the door. You’ll be covering the foam with putty. That way, the patch is of a similar texture to the smooth closet door finish. Spread the putty over the hole, then scrape it clean with a putty knife or spreader. Apply putty to any remaining pockets or holes, then repeat the scraping process until smooth.

Replace Broken Closet Doors

Sometimes it’s not worth the time and effort to repair a hole in a closet door. If your closet door has already sustained a lot of damage, it might be time to just buy a new one. Fortunately, if you live in Toronto, it’s easy to buy a replacement closet door of any style from Keystone Home Products. Just give us a call if you have any questions about what we have available.

The Benefits of Using Wire Pantry Shelving

The Benefits of Using Wire Pantry Shelving

If you want to improve your pantry, you should consider using wire pantry shelving. You may be wondering what wire pantry shelving could possibly have on shelving made of wood. However, you may be surprised at the benefits it comes with. Here are a few reasons why wire shelving is the better option.

Wire Pantry Shelving Stays Clean

Have you ever noticed how gross pantry shelving can get over time? Little bits of flour and sugar escape their bags after being rolled down. Oil that runs down the side of the bottle leaves a dark ring on the wood. Crumbs from who-knows-where collect between ingredients.

With wire shelving, none of these things is an issue. Loose crumbs and such will simply fall to the floor, making it easy to sweep and mop up each time you clean the kitchen floors. Therefore, there’s no need to make a special task of cleaning out the pantry.

Wire Is Pest Resistant

Wire isn’t just great at keeping crumbs off your shelves, it’s also great at keeping pests off of them. As you might imagine, it’s much easier for bugs and mice to walk around on a flat surface. Wire shelving makes it much harder for them to get to your food. Therefore, they’re less likely to stick around due to the inhospitable environment.

Better Airflow

Airflow is important in shelving for a number of reasons. For one thing, better airflow means moisture and dust don’t have a place to settle. Keeping moisture and dust away from your food is always a good thing. Keep your shelved goods tasting better for longer.

Shallow Shelving for Walk-In Pantries

Another reason to consider wire pantry shelving is if you have a walk-in pantry. Walk-in pantries require shallower shelving to allow for walking space. Instead of creating a deep shelf on one wall, using shallow shelving on all of the walls means easier access to pantry goods without having to dig through the shelf contents.

Wire shelving is great for walk-in pantries. It allows light-flow, is easy to see through, and fits perfectly into the limited space. Wire shelving from Keystone Home Products can be bought in varying dimensions to fit any pantry size.

Spice Up Your Bar with Glass Shelving and Mirrors

Spice Up Your Bar with Glass Shelving and Mirrors

Everyone loves going out for a drink now and then – or maybe every other night. Because drinks are in such high demand, bars can be a dime a dozen. There’s one or two on every city street, so it’s important to stand out. If you want your bar to stand out from the rest and pull in some very comfortable regulars, we have a tip for you. Spice up your bar with some glass shelving and mirrors.

Why a Bar Needs Glass Shelving

Glass shelving does a lot for a bar space. First, if you don’t have enough shelving as it is, this addition will make storing liquor bottles much easier. They’ll all be accessible and close-by for bartenders to grab as they need.

In addition to accessibility improvements, shelving that’s specifically made of glass has an added bonus. It allows a lot of light flow, making the space behind the bar feel bigger. Plus, the glass matches all of your fancy liquor bottles, making the whole area feel cohesive.

One more feature of glass shelving that we can’t ignore: it’s easy to clean. Spilling liquor on a wooden shelf is likely to damage it or strip it of its stain or sealant. Glass is easy to wipe down. Any sticky residue left from dried up alcohol can be wiped down with a cloth or with cleaners without worrying about it damaging the shelving.

Why a Bar Needs Mirrors

Glass shelving may seem like a more obvious addition, but what about mirrors? Mirrors placed behind the glass shelving in a bar add a lot of improvements.

  • They reflect light, keeping the bar space lit up and visible
  • Liquor bottles are reflected back on themselves, making the stash, visually, double in size
  • Mirrors also reflect the entire room back on itself, making it feel more spacious
  • Mirrors are also easy to clean, just like the glass shelving.

The Atmosphere Improvement

Convenience isn’t the only thing that matters when outfitting a bar with new shelving or backsplash. A lot of why people have a favorite bar is because of atmosphere. The ambience can be everything. If you’re going out for a night with friends, you don’t want to go somewhere where you feel depressed. Say goodbye to dingy, dark shelving and behind-the-bar storage. Make your bar lighter-weight, flashier, and more contemporary in appearance.

Buy Quality Glass Shelving and Mirrors in Toronto

If you’re interested in upgrading to high quality glass bar shelving and mirror backsplash, Keystone Home Products is the place to go. We offer high quality glass shelving with metal mounting brackets. We also offer beautiful mirrors for use as backsplash, vanities, and more.

Replace an Old Closet Organizer in Toronto

Replace an Old Closet Organizer in Toronto

Having a closet organizer is a real game changer for your storage needs. Already have one? Maybe it’s time to ask yourself if it’s doing everything you need it to. Not all closet organizers are made the same. Here are some reasons you might want to replace an old closet organizer with one from Keystone Home Products.

Better Appearance

One of the things we pride ourselves on is the high quality appearance of our wooden closet organizers. If you need to replace an old closet organizer in Toronto, we can say, without a doubt, that ours are the right choice.

The high quality of our wooden closet organizers also impacts their appearance. You can tell by looking at them that they’re made with taste in mind.

High Quality Craftsmanship

At Keystone Home Products, we look to sell high quality home products for everyday needs. The products we offer are those things that sit somewhere between possession and interior fixture. So, to maintain that in-between state where our products do their jobs without getting in anyone’s way, they must be quality. After all, no one wants to think about their mirror as an object; they simply want to use it as a feature. The same goes for our closet organizers.

When you replace an old closet organizer with one from Keystone Home Products in Toronto, you invest in continuity. Your new closet organizer will hold fast and look good doing it. From the day it’s installed in your closet onward, its convenience will simply become a way of life.

Custom Segment Selection

Perhaps the most compelling part of replacing your old closet organizer with one from Keystone is the customization. You can buy closet organizers from all over, but can you customize them too? Keystone’s closet organizers are made of of many different parts. Closet organization isn’t a one-size-fits-all solution. Therefore, we can work together to find the perfect combination and layout of parts to suit your closet.

With your closet dimension in mind, we can make a plan and determine the right parts for your space. Whether you need fewer hanger bars, more drawers, or an abundance of shelves, we’ll make it happen. There’s no right amount of each organizer section. Therefore, it’s just a matter of considering what you have.

Convenient Organizer Suggestions

  • Do you have an abundance of formalwear? If so, a separate hanger bar will allow you to maintain the tidiness of your formal clothing.
  • If you love to collect watches, a watch drawer is the perfect choice for you. Fit one of our high quality drawers with a watch insert. This will allow you to store your watches in a way that protects the band integrity. Plus, it makes them easier to look through when deciding which one to wear.
  • Do you keep formal and off-season shoes clean and stored away? A segment of shelving would be the perfect place to store them safely and where you can easily access them.

No matter what your needs are, you can count on Keystone to meet them. Come and take a look at our organizers in person at our Toronto showroom. Or, call us if you have questions you’d like to ask over the phone.

Creative Benefits to Using Wire Shelving

Creative Benefits to Using Wire Shelving

Wire shelving is an oft-overlooked fixture in any functional home. It doesn’t usually have the sleek appearance many modern homeowners are looking for. Most would prefer glass shelving, or even cheap, black-coated particleboard. However, we’re hoping to change your mind. Because, wire shelving has some creative benefits that you may have never considered. Here are just a few of them.

Water and Dirt Resistant

Wooden bookshelves may look great when you first put them together, but they don’t always stay that way. If you set a cold glass of water on your wooden shelf, it takes only a couple hours of forgetfulness to leave you with a big, ugly warp spot.

It’s easy enough to avoid putting down cold glasses on your wooden shelves. However, some of our favorite things require shelf space and water – our plants! If you value a little green in your home, the best place to store your indoor plants is on a wire shelf. The coated metal is completely water resistant. However, it’s also dirt resistant!

Keeping potted plants looking their best can be a messy task. Fortunately, wire shelving will allow loose dirt to fall directly through to the floor below. From there, it’s easily swept or wiped up, along with whatever water droplets your watering can or spray bottle drips on its way to and from each plant.

Perfect for Lights and Vines

Another of the creative benefits to using wire shelving is the ability to wrap things around the wires. For lovers of string lights, that can mean lining your shelves with a magical little light source.

On the other hand, if you’re one of our plant lovers, you may find your wire shelving is better used catering to creeping vines. Creeping vines make some very beautiful houseplants, especially if they have something to creep along. Vines will naturally wind around whatever is nearby. If they’re growing from the bottom level of a wire shelf, they’ll find their way up the side and all over the open spaces in those wire shelves. With a little direction, you can have them wrap neatly along the fronts of the shelves.

Great Airflow

The creative benefits of wire shelving don’t start and end with plants. Another of their great perks is their great airflow. The high airflow of wire shelving is great for a number of crafts. Crafts that need to dry will do so faster when placed somewhere with higher airflow.

Wet pottery can be supported with a piece of cardboard on the wire shelves. Once hardened, the support can be removed to allow airflow directly to the bottom. Likewise, glaze will dry much faster with increased airflow.

Pottery isn’t the only craft that requires dry-time. Wire shelving is also great for storing wet paintings, painted figurines, stained wood, dyed shirts, and more.

Curtain Friendly

Enjoy the practical uses of wire shelving but don’t care for the appearance? Fortunately, they have a built-in solution to that as well: curtains. Wire shelving has the added creative benefit of supporting the use of curtains. So, buy yourself something ready-made, or pull out the sewing machine and some cute, patterned fabric, and make yourself some curtains. Wire shelving provides plenty of places to hook some curtain rings. Ready for some sturdy shelving in your own home? You can get it today at Keystone Home Products.

Outfit a Walk-In Closet with a Wooden Closet Organizer

Outfit a Walk-In Closet with a Wooden Closet Organizer

If you have a walk-in closet, you’re one step away from a luxurious dressing experience. What are you missing? A wooden closet organizer! A walk-in closet with nothing but some hanger bars is adequate, but a walk-in closet with an organizer is indulgent. Nothing feels more luxurious than having places for everything that are easy to access. Here’s what you’re missing.

Keep Your Clothing Accessible

Something most closets are missing is easy clothing accessibility. Even with boxes, bins, and bags, clothing and accessories aren’t as accessible as they could be. After all, how inclined are you really to unstack all of those boxes of seasonal clothes to find what you need in the off-season? Probably not very inclined. Unless you shift out your entire wardrobe each season, you probably just stick to one set of versatile clothes like the rest of us.

However, if your clothing becomes accessible year round, there’s no reason you can’t be your most comfortable, no matter the season. A wooden closet organizer is perfect for making clothing accessibility a reality. Say goodbye to boxes packed with your beloved sweaters and scarves. Say hello to ample hanger bar space and drawers for accessories.

Make Organization Look Great

Organization is possible with things like cardboard boxes or plastic bins. But, does it look good? No. Organization should look amazing. After all, it’s everything in its place, right? When you outfit your walk-in closet with an organizer, you make organization look great. Every piece of clothing having its own place looks amazing when its place is on one cohesive piece of furniture. An organizer from Keystone Home Products is exactly that. Whether you choose black or woodgrain finish, your organizer will tie everything together nicely.

Save on Floor Space

One of the the benefits to using a closet organizer for your clothing and accessories is that you save on floor space. While you may be able to pack off-season clothing into boxes, chances are, you’re stacking it in a corner or against the wall cross from your hanging clothing. When you install a walk-in closet organizer from Keystone Home Products, you save on floor space that would otherwise be taken up by suboptimal storage systems.

A walk-in closet organizer ensures everything has its place in one vertical space. That can free up your other wall – if your closet space is narrow – or make room for seating or other useful decor.

Customize Your Walk-In Closet Organizer

What’s the best part of buying a wooden, walk-in closet organizer from Keystone? You can customize it! Every organizer is made up of different parts: hanger bars, shelving, drawers, and so on. Everyone has different clothes storage needs. So, choose the elements that are right for you. Build yourself the ideal closet organizer for your closet. Get started by heading down to our store in Toronto or by giving us a call.

Create a Walk-In Closet Mirror Wall

Create a Walk-In Closet Mirror Wall

Want your walk-in closet to feel like the Narnia of getting dressed in the morning? There’s more to a walk-in closet than just hanging up your t-shirts. A walk-in closet mirror wall will add a whole new dimension to your morning routine. Check out these great benefits.

Make Your Closet Feel Bigger

Putting a mirror wall into any room creates a size benefit. Mirrors make a space feel bigger. This is especially useful in a small space such as a walk-in closet. A walk-in closet mirror wall makes your closet feel bigger by reflecting the space back on itself. That tricks your visual brain into thinking the space is twice as big as it really is.

Not to mention, mirrors also reflect light. That means your space is also brighter than before. A walk-in closet mirror wall spreads light throughout the entire closet with ease. Finding the clothes you need is easier. So is seeing every pro and con of the outfit you just put together.

Make Coordinating Your Outfits Easier

Of course, what do mirrors do best but show us our reflections? If you enjoy putting together show-stopping outfits for work or social events, a walk-in closet mirror wall is the perfect solution. A standing mirror is one thing, but a wide mirror that runs the length of the closet is another.

When you can get a good look at your outfit from head to toe, it’s easy to see if something isn’t right, or if something’s missing. Make coordinating the different parts of your outfit easy with ample mirror space.

Catch Every Detail

An additional benefit to having a large mirror is caching details in your outfit that you might otherwise miss. The smaller the mirror, the harder it is to see the big picture of how you look. A full closet mirror wall, however? You’ll spot right away if you left a tag on your shirt or if your pants are tucked awkwardly into your shoe. Leave the house feeling confident of the way you look. After all, you’ve seen it from every angle!

Infinity Mirrors

Do you enjoy the infinity effect of dual mirrors that you can achieve in a clothing store changing room? Achieve the same thing in your own closet by installing mirror walls across from each other. At the end of a long closet is the perfect location for this effect. Simply install mirror panels that face each other and you can see your entire outfit, front and back. Seeing yourself from head to toe isn’t the only way to dress yourself. Even better is checking yourself front and back.

Affordable Wall Mirrors

Keystone Home Products has affordable wall mirrors available to anyone in the GTA. Just stop by our store to see what’s available in person. We provide all of the essential home organization products you’re after. Tips for Organizing a Hall Linen Closet

Tips for Organizing a Hall Linen Closet

Keeping a linen closet from becoming completely overrun is a great way to reduce stress in your everyday life. You might be surprised by the kind of impact your hall linen closet can have on your mood. However, most of us use our linen closet every day – often multiple times – to get towels, cloths, and more. If you have to fight with your closet every time you get into it, it’s going to cause stress. Fortunately, Keystone Home Products has the organization know-how and the products you need to keep your closet in check. Without further ado, here are our tips for organizing a hall linen closet.

Remove Unnecessary Contents

If you’re like most people, you probably have a backstock of towels and such that you never really use. If you find yourself struggling to fit your freshly folded towels into your hall linen closet, it might be because you need to remove some things.

Consider saying goodbye to the old towels that no one in the house ever uses. Move rags you need for other crafts or messy projects to a different part of the house. If you’ve got a tool setup in your garage, this might be a good place for storing rags. Cleaning rags can be kept under your kitchen sink or wherever you store cleaning products. Save your linen closet space for towels and cloths you use in the bathroom.

Keep Things Folded and Adjust Folding Method

Once you’ve removed things taking up unnecessary space, it’s time to consider your folding method. Many people grow up folding their towels a certain way and continue using that method once they move into their own home. However, every home has different closet sizes. Your folding method might leave you with towels that are too wide to sit side by side comfortably. Experiment with folding methods to create folded towels that coexist more peacefully.

Increase Airflow for Fresher Laundry

If your towels and sheets come out of the closet smelling dusty or stale, it might be because of the shelving you have installed. If your home is on the older side, wooden shelving in closets can obtain a musty or dusty smell that they then pass on to your laundry.

To increase airflow and prevent your closet shelves from making your towels and other linens smell dusty, opt for wire shelving. Getting wire shelving for a closet will keep things from smelling like old wood, prevent things from growing dusty, and discourage pests from being able to make a home there.

Implement Drawers for Non-Linen Contents

If you keep things in your linen closet that aren’t linen, you can also benefit from adding drawers to the closet. Many people use their hall linen closet to store spare toiletries, like soap and shampoo. Keep these things in order by putting some organizer drawers onto one of the shelves. This will keep your closet looking more orderly and prevent you from knocking things over when removing or replacing towels or sheets.

Master Bedroom Wall Mirrors

Master Bedroom Wall Mirrors

If you’re looking for a great accent to your master bedroom, wall mirrors are a great idea. They come with a number of benefits past just offering you something to plan an outfit in. Let’s check out some of the ways they can improve your room and everyday life.

View Full Outfits

Of course, the first benefit of any big mirror is the ability to view your entire outfit at once. A bathroom vanity is limited to showing you how you look from the waist up. Sure, you can stand on a chair or back all the way out of the bathroom door in the hopes of seeing the rest. However, getting mirror walls for your bedroom will make this unnecessary.

Floor to ceiling mirrors allow you to comfortably try on clothes and view your entire outfit at once. This is great for professionals who need to look their best when they go into work each day. Even if you wear the same type of clothes each workday, a mirror does more than help you color coordinate. Being able to see yourself prevents embarrassing outfit mishaps like part of your shirt being untucked in the back. Get the full picture with master bedroom wall mirrors.

Create a Lighter Room

Seeing how you look is only the most basic benefit to having master bedroom wall mirrors. In addition to that, master bedroom wall mirrors will also make the room lighter. Mirrors reflect light – both from outside and from lamps. The reflected light bounces around the room, illuminating areas that would otherwise be dim or entirely dark. Creating a lighter room with your floor to ceiling mirrors will make finding things easier and can even reduce depression.

Make Your Room Feel Bigger

Finally, master bedroom wall mirrors will make your room feel bigger. Having an entire wall reflecting the room back on itself will make it feel twice as big. Even if you don’t actually have that extra space, tricking your brain into feeling like it’s there can make the actual size of your room feel much less cramped. Even small rooms with floor to ceiling mirrors can feel big and spacious.

Mirror Closet Doors

If your wall of choice for wall mirrors has a closet in it, fear not. You may not be able to install regular wall mirrors where your closet is, but you can install mirror closet doors. With regular wall mirrors and mirror closet doors working together, you can cover your entire wall with mirrors in one form or another.

Buy Master Bedroom Wall Mirrors

If you live in Toronto, Keystone Home Products is here to help you on your journey to a more spacious, lighter bedroom. We specialize in home products, including mirrors of all sizes. Give us a call if you have questions about our mirrors. Or, come down to our store in person and see what we have to offer. Prevent a Messy Closet by Avoiding These Storage Mistakes

Prevent a Messy Closet by Avoiding These Storage Mistakes

It’s easy for a closet to get messy and unmanageable. However, you can prevent a messy closet with a little help from Keystone Home Products. We excel in home organization and want to help you get your closet in order by avoiding these storage mistakes that almost everyone falls victim to.

Using Your Closet as General Storage

This is a relatively simple mistake to make. Growing up, as kids and teens, most of us only had our room and closet to keep our things. We got used to putting everything in this space. However, carrying that practice into adulthood when you have more space at your disposal can cause problems.

As adults, we usually have more clothing. After all, now we have work clothes and formal clothes, workout clothes, etc. We can’t afford to waste space in our closets for boxes of old notebooks. But, there’s also no reason to throw out old things that are important to you. Instead, you need to find a place for these items that reflects the infrequency of their use.

Buying some shallow, under-bed storage drawers is a fantastic use of space. These allow you access, but can be a bother to get into for items you use regularly. Use the space for non-clothing items you want to keep but rarely use.

Using Closed Boxes

People underestimate the power of a lid or some tape on their willingness to access something. Almost everyone, at some point, has stored something in a box, closed it up, and put it on a shelf only to find it 6 years later, not even realizing they still had it anymore. One of the biggest storage mistakes is putting things in closed, unlabeled boxes.

Instead of packing things away, closed off and hard to access, store things in open-top boxes with labels. Invest in some nice, square storage baskets/drawers that can slide onto a top closet shelf with ease. If you aren’t interested in paying for more storage, you can also just cut the flaps off some cardboard boxes so that they’re open on top.

If you want them to look a bit nicer, consider covering them with a nice design using wrapping paper or some old fabric. And, don’t forget to label them. Use a small slip of paper, list the items in the box, and use some clear tape to stick the list to the front of the box. Now, every time you go into the closet, you’ll glance at your storage boxes and their content lists and store that information away in your brain for later.

Leaving Things on the Closet Floor

This is an easy mistake to make. From dirty clothes to discarded shoes, people leave things on their closet floor all the time. This is a huge storage mistake. These things will begin to pile up, blocking the closet door and making accessing the closet harder. With each added layer of difficulty to get into the closet, you’re more likely to make the problem worse by putting things somewhere they don’t belong. Get yourself a hamper for laundry and make sure you take the extra ten seconds to put things back where they go. You’ll thank me later.

Having No Storage Shelving

Finally, one of the biggest storage mistakes is having no storage shelving. If your closet has nothing but a hanger bar, of course it’s going to end up messy. Getting some shelving or a closet organizer will change your life and make storage so much easier. Keeping things clean is way easier when everything has a place.

How to Customize Your Shower Enclosure with Glass Etching

How to Customize Your Shower Enclosure with Glass Etching

Do you like to give your home interior a bit of personal flair? You’re not the only one! Fortunately, there are a lot of ways to customize your home so that every corner of it feels like you. Keystone Home Products wants to address one really great DIY technique that’s easy to do and extremely underutilized: glass etching. We’ll briefly cover how you can use glass etching to customize your glass shower enclosure.

What Is Glass Etching?

It may sound dangerous or difficult, but glass etching is actually very easy. What is it? Well, have you ever seen a piece of glass – a wine glass, a candle holder, an old glass lamp shade, etc. – with an opaque design on it? This design is usually white, but it’s not something applied to the surface, like paint. This is glass etching. The glass is transformed to be opaque in only select areas, allowing you to paint or stencil on any design you want.

How Is It Done?

Glass etching may sound like something you have to do with special tools or a laser, but it’s not. It’s much simpler than that. The opaque design added to any piece of glass is done by applying acid to it. The acid eats through the surface of the glass, creating such consistent damage to it that it simply loses its transparency.

Applying acid to something sounds dangerous, right? Well, not much more than most other DIY projects, or putting in a load of laundry with some bleach. The acid used for glass etching is sold in hardware or crafting stores. It comes in the form of a cream or paste.

If you intend to do some glass etching, you’ll want to look up a detailed guide. However, the general process involves creating a template with a sheet of vinyl, temporarily adhering it to the surface of the glass, applying your glass etching solution to the exposed part of the glass, giving it some time to work its magic, then cleaning it all off. Left behind is a beautiful, opaque design on your glass.

Using Glass Etching to Customize Your Shower Enclosure

Glass etching is most commonly used to customize small pieces of kitchenware, such as champagne glasses. This is often done for printing dates or names on things to create memory pieces for things like wedding dates. However, glass etching is a versatile craft and can be used for many more things than people frequently use it for. For example, you could use it to add a custom design to your shower enclosure.

Some great ideas are to:

  • Add a band of growing grass and blooming flowers to the bottom of the enclosure
  • Outline the edges of the entire enclosure with blooming vines and leaves
  • Create a simple, geometric pattern to give a lightweight framing effect to the enclosure
  • Add some words that inspire you – a favorite poem, quote, or mantra

Revitalize or Start with Fresh Glass

When you customize your glass shower enclosure with glass etching, you have two ways to go about it. If you have an old shower enclosure, you can use glass etching to bring it back to life. Applying glass etching specifically to areas with topical impurities or damage might even erase the imperfections entirely. However, if you’d like a blank canvas to work from, you can also get a new, glass shower enclosure from Keystone Home Products in Toronto.

Replace Damaged Closet Shelving in Toronto

Replace Damaged Closet Shelving in Toronto

Our closets are such important parts of our homes. However, it’s easy to forget just how important they are until something goes wrong. Fortunately, if you need to replace damaged closet shelving in the Toronto area, Keystone Home Products has just what you need.

Damaged Closet Shelving

In old homes, especially, old shelves can sometimes break. This is common with thinner shelves that have had something big and heavy stored on them. Maybe you had a lot of heavy ingredients stored on a pantry shelf. Or, perhaps you put a heavy box full of old school papers onto the shelf in a bedroom closet. Regardless, you’re down a shelf, and we have plenty.

Additionally, shelves can be damaged from liquids spilling. This is especially common kitchen pantries. If a bottle of oil spills and isn’t noticed for many hours, your shelf can be completely destroyed after soaking up the oil. Hall closets are equally susceptible to things like spare shampoo or acetone nail polish remover. When accidents happen, you need a reliable home goods store to help you out of a jam. Keystone Home Products is exactly that for the people of Toronto.

Replace Damaged Closet Shelving

When you need to replace damaged closet shelving, Keystone provides you with options.

We have wooden shelves that are typically part of closet organizers. However, these can also come in narrower sizes, as all of our wooden organizers are custom built with basic organizer parts. Therefore, if you need to replace some wooden shelves in a closet, we can provide you with the shelving to do so. Either buy individual, custom shelves to mount on existing side bars, or simply place a narrow organizer shelf into the closet.

Additionally, we have a lot of wire shelving. Wire shelving is a favorite, as it minimizes pest access, is spill-proof, and may bend under great pressure, but won’t break like wood. Wire shelving can also be bought in pieces or placed into a closet as a system.

Closet Organizers for Walk-Ins

If you’re struggling with shelving and organization in a walk-in closet, the solution is almost always a wooden closet organizer. These systems are completely customizable and will change your life.

They come with ample shelving for boxes, bins, shoes, books, and whatever else you want to store on them. However, you can also opt for many hanger bars for storing clothes. Give yourself the room you need to hang clothes without wrestling just to hang a shirt back up. And, that’s not all. Our wooden closet organizers can also come with drawer space. This is essential for storing small accessories, or even other knick-knacks.

No matter what your shelving needs, Keystone Home Products can help you replace damaged closet shelving with ease. We assure you, you’ll leave Keystone with confidence. Give us a call if you have questions about our products or how you can custom order them.

Replace Custom Glass Shower Door in Toronto

Replace Custom Glass Shower Door in Toronto

Some glass shower enclosures are prefabricated and can be bought and installed with standard dimensions. However, many homes have custom shower doors with no glass enclosure. These doors often block off a one-sided opening to an alcove shower and the dimensions may be customized to fit. The problem is, if one of these doors breaks, replacing it means more than a trip to the hardware store. If you need to replace a custom glass shower door in the Toronto area, Keystone Home Products is here to help.

Replace Broken Custom Glass Shower Door

If your custom glass shower door has broken and you’re looking to replace it, Keystone Home Products is the place to go. However, before worrying about a replacement, be sure to properly clean your bathroom and shower area. Shattered glass is incredibly dangerous and even the tiniest little pieces can cut deeply. Put on some protective shoes, sweep up the big pieces into a dustpan, then sweep the bathroom multiple times after. If you have a vacuum with a hose, use this to check corners and go over the floor once you’ve swept.

Once your bathroom is safe to traverse barefoot again, you can begin worrying about future showers and your need for a door. Give us a call if you need to replace a broken custom-sized shower door. We cut mirror and glass for our customers all the time in order to fit the dimensions of their homes. Let us know the dimensions your door should be and we can get you a new door to replace the one that broke.

Replace Outdated Custom Glass Shower Door

Broken doors aren’t the only ones that need to be replaced. Custom glass shower doors have been around for a long time. If you’ve got one that’s old and ugly, we’re here to help. Many old shower doors have unattractive patterns in them to prevent clear views into the shower. These textures have fallen out of style and no longer match modern interiors.

Not to mention, many old shower doors have metal frames. These are generally not in style anymore. With modern glass-cutting technology, it’s easy to mount a frameless glass door with strong, steel hinges – no frame needed. Replace your old, outdated custom glass shower door with one from this century.

Replace Enclosure with Custom Glass Shower Door

Another situation that calls for custom glass shower door shopping is when going from an enclosure to just a door. This is often the case during renovations or if you need a bigger shower door. Many people replace old, narrow shower doors with wider ones. Not only are these easier to step through, they’re also more accessible for people with mobility difficulties, with or without mobility aids.

If you’re looking to get rid of an old enclosure and invest in a wider, custom shower door, we can help you. Give us a call and let us know what you need and we’ll let you know what we can do.

Professional Uses for Wire Shelving

Professional Uses for Wire Shelving

We recently wrote a bit about the best uses for wire shelving at home. However, we know that a lot of the things considered home goods are also used in professional spaces. That’s why Keystone Home Products is here again to cover the best professional uses for wire shelving as well. Don’t worry, we didn’t forget those of you trying to improve your shop or work environment!

1. Folded Apparel Shelving

If you run a clothing shop, one of the best ways you can improve the shop is by storing folded apparel on wire shelving. Everyone has to go into a clothing shop now and again. If that shop includes folded apparel, getting it from a wooden shelf that hasn’t been cleaned in ages is really unsavory. More surface area means more germs, more dust, more dirt, and less appeal.

However, when you store folded apparel on wire shelving, you allow that clothing to breathe and remain fresh longer. The clothing is less likely to take on the smell of the shop. It’s also less likely to get dusty. The last thing you want is to trigger a customer’s allergies when they pull a dusty shirt on in the changing room.

2. Office Supply Shelving

If you work in an office, you know there’s no shortage of storage needs. Offices come with a lot of supplies. From paper to pens, ink cartridges and sticky notes, there’s a lot that needs somewhere to go. Putting up some wire shelving in a copy room or along a back wall gives you somewhere to store these things where they’re easily accessible. Employees can easily find what they need and knowing when something is running low is as easy as a glance.

3. Supply Closet Shelving

No matter what kind of business you work for or run, you almost certainly have a supply closet. If your supply closet is in need of a boost, if you’re moving your business to a new space, or if you’re renovating an old coat closet, you need wire shelving. One of the best professional uses for wire shelving is mounting it across an empty closet space. Then, your empty old coat closet can be used for storing all kinds of things.

Dental and medical offices can use supply closet wire shelving for storing backstock of packaged supplies. Or, if you’re in a medical environment where patients stay for surgery or overnight observation, you can also use it for storing blankets, pillows, and gowns in more sanitary conditions.

4. Cubicle Shelving

Finally, the last of our favorite professional uses for wire shelving: cubicle shelving. Cubicles have a marked lack of storage space in them aside from the surface of your desk. If you need somewhere to store notebooks, binders, stationery, or boxes of small supplies, wire shelving is here for you. Wire shelving is lightweight, making it great for mounting on a cubicle wall. If your cubicle wall isn’t made for screws, you can also buy or create a wire rig that hooks over the top edge of the cubicle. This is especially stable and lacks the risk of screws coming loose.

Take your cubicle to the next level and reduce crowding your desk space with wire shelving from Keystone Home Products.

Top Uses for Wire Shelving at Home

Top Uses for Wire Shelving at Home

There are a lot of uses for wire shelving at home, but some of these uses are more practical than others. Keystone Home Products offers wire shelving to all of our lovely customers in Toronto and the GTA. We want you to make the most of them. Therefore, we’ve put together a short list of the best ways you can utilize these shelves at home. Let’s start with-

1. Kitchen Overflow Shelving

One of the top uses for wire shelving at home is in the kitchen as overflow shelving. Are you struggling to fit everything into your cupboards? Wire shelving is the solution.

You can use these shelves to store snacks, cereals, boxed goods, and more. The best part about the shelves being made of wire is that they’re pest resistant. Pests have a harder time traversing wire than solid surfaces and are less likely to get into your things or try making a home in them.

For that reason, and due to the shortage of space, wire shelving is especially useful in apartment kitchens. Without a full pantry, apartment kitchens often leave you with cramped cupboards. Storing some of your things on wire overflow shelving is a great way to give yourself more wiggle room when unloading groceries.

2. Garage Shoe Shelving

There are as many ways to store shoes as there are people to wear them. Everyone does it differently. However, one of the best uses for wire shelving at home is for just this.

Setting up some wire shelves in the garage, beside the door to the house, is the perfect way to store shoes. The shelves offer a clear view of their contents because they’re not solid, like wood. Plus, because of those gaps between the wire bars, any dirt on your shoes will simply fall through instead of gathering on the shelf. That means a neater appearance in the long-run.

3. Supplementary Closet Shelving

Closets are made for storing things, but isn’t it curious how they so frequently lack the necessary storage fixtures? If your closet has plenty of extra space and you’re struggling to make use of it, put in some wire shelving. These shelves can be used for storing dress shoes, boxes of seasonal clothes, decorative baskets of accessories like scarves, and more.

Plus, if you have no built-in shelf above your clothing bar, you can use wire shelving there instead. The space above your clothing bars is extremely useful and would be terrible to let go to waste. A long stretch of wire shelving would be just the thing to salvage it. Use this shelving to store boxes of knickknacks, accessories, notebooks you need semi-regularly, hats, and more.

4. Patio Plant Shelving

Finally, one of our favorite uses for wire shelving at home is as patio plant shelving. So many of us love keeping plants. They add a bit of life to our homes and give us something to do in our free time. If you enjoy keeping plants on your patio, wire shelving is the ideal display solution for them.

Wire bars allow loose soil to fall through instead of gathering on a surface. This open design also means watering them is no stress, as you won’t have to worry about warped wood or pooling. Plus, because plants will drain excess water, you can even set up your shelf so that you only need to water the plants on top. They’ll then drip unneeded water to the plants below, creating a wonderful trickle-down system that’s both practical and relaxing.

Tricks for Organizing Your Kitchen Cupboards

Tricks for Organizing Your Kitchen Cupboards

Keeping your kitchen cupboards organized is the first step to enjoying using your kitchen. However, it’s not an easy step for everyone. Organization is a skill that takes practice. Furthermore, kitchen cupboards involve fitting many differently-shaped items, all with different uses and levels of importance. It’s not as straightforward as packing things into a box for later; the contents of your cupboards need to remain accessible by priority. So, here are some tricks for organizing your kitchen cupboards.

Keeping Useful Backstock Only

The first step in organizing your kitchen cupboards is to only keep backstock that’s useful. What is backstock? It’s all of that food you keep around because you’ll use it one day, but not all today. Canned veggies and bags of rice are great backstock for when you want to make soup one rainy day.

However, a huge chunk of people’s cupboard space is often overtaken by backstock food items. If you can never seem to make room for new groceries, and you can’t really figure out why, there’s a good chance it’s that you simply have too much backstock.

To cut down on how much space is taken up by backstock, start by checking expiration dates. You’ll be surprised how many things have been sitting untouched for 5 years.Yes – even when you swear you didn’t buy them that long ago.

After removing expired foods, if you still have quite a few boxes of instant food or canned items, pull some of it out for use this week. Make 3 recipe piles on your counter and pile some backstock food into them. This week, you can surely use some of it up by making soup, chili, a rice dish, or some other food that uses lots of preserved food.

Separating Spices

One of the biggest mistakes people make with their cupboard space is keeping their spices with everything else. Separate your spices. No matter how you cut it, spices do not stack well. Trying to find what you’re looking for will lead to knocking over stacks and making an organizational disaster.

Instead, opt for a wire spice rack that can be mounted on the pantry well. Another option is a countertop spice rack – maybe one that swivels. But, perhaps our favorite method of storage: use a drawer. A shallow drawer that isn’t big enough for much else is great for storing spices. Lay them down so their labels face up and line them up in your drawer. Finding spices will become easy as pie and they won’t fall all over while you look.

Storing Appliances Outside the Pantry

Another mistake that’s commonly made is storing appliances in the pantry. Organizing your kitchen cupboards becomes way easier when you don’t have to navigate around a crockpot. If you have a tall pantry as well as cabinets, store appliances in lower cabinets or on a wire rack instead of in the pantry. The pantry is easier to access than lower cupboards, so it should be used for food, which you need more often.

Managing Closet Space the Easy Way

Managing Closet Space the Easy Way

Managing your closet space can be really tricky, especially if you don’t have a lot of it. Fortunately, there’s an easy solution to managing closet space no matter how big your closet is. The trick is deciding whether your closet should be in your closet, or somewhere else. Let us explain.

Space Is Space Is Space

Many people struggle with managing closet space because they have more clothing than can fit inside of their small closet. Getting rid of clothing you don’t wear is a great idea, but it only works for people who don’t wear a notable amount of their clothing. If you have the kind of job that requires work-specific clothing, or if you keep clothes specific for workouts, you may have a lot of clothing that you wear regularly. Work clothes, everyday clothes, formal wear, gym clothes, and seasonal clothes can be a tight fit together. This is especially true if your closet isn’t even a walk-in. Fitting all of this into a shallow closet with sliding doors is a real struggle.

So, instead of trying to prune down your clothing until it fits easily into a closet that’s too small, perhaps we should expand. Creating a closet space somewhere other than the closet is an easy solution that works for many. You don’t even have to have a mansion to achieve this. If you have a spare room, or even just some unused space in your bedroom, you can expand your closet outside of its current boundaries. That is, if it’s even necessary.

Using a Closet Organizer

If you have a walk-in closet that you’re struggling to manage space in, you might just need some help. A wooden closet organizer from Keystone Home Products  may be just the thing. Our closet organizers have brought life and organization back to countless walk-ins. Our organizers have shelf space, drawer space, and hanger bars as well. That makes them ideal for a variety of clothing and accessories.

If you don’t have the kind of closet that can accommodate a wooden organizer, you can install the organizer somewhere else. Anywhere that could accommodate a large bookshelf could take on a closet organizer. Really, when it comes down to it, it’s not much different from a fancy bookshelf. It just comes with a few extra storage options made for clothing.

If you don’t have free space anywhere, you can switch out something else with the contents of your closet. Put up some affordable wall-mount bookshelves and store books in your sliding-door closet. Put your organizer where the bookshelves were before. Space is space is space. A closet doesn’t have to have clothing in it.

Organization Accessories

While a closet organizer offers a great place to store many items, organization accessories never hurt. Consider a set of coat hooks for near the front door so that jackets don’t need to be stored with the contents of your closet. Maybe you could benefit from a door-hanging shoe carrier. Small shoes like sandals and heels store in these with ease. Plus, when you store these awkward shoes in a door hanger, you don’t have to worry about keeping them in place on a shelf or regular shoe rack.

How to Repair a Cracked Mirror

How to Repair a Cracked Mirror

So your vanity mirror has cracked. Now you’re probably desperately searching online for a solution. The good news is, it’s actually not too hard to repair a cracked mirror! Mirrors are one of our most popular products here at Keystone Home Products. Therefore, we know a thing or two about them and want to share that knowledge with you.

Repair a Cracked Mirror with a Kit

The most common and easiest way to repair a mirror is with a mirror repair kit. These can be bought online or from most hardware stores. You may also find them at auto stores, since this is the same method used to repair windshields and other types of glass.

A mirror repair kit will come with a syringe, a small tube of epoxy, and a stability film. While each kit will come with its own unique instructions, they usually go something like this:

  1. Wash your mirror to remove any dust particles or skin oils.
  2. Put down your stability film to cover the crack. This should be put on carefully and smoothed as it’s placed to prevent any air from getting trapped.
  3. Next, use your syringe to extract epoxy from the small tube included in the kit.
  4. Stick the needle of the syringe very carefully through the film and into the crack.
  5. Slowly push the plunger on the syringe down to inject the crack with epoxy. Don’t do this too fast or it may cause bubbling of the film. Give the epoxy enough time to spread so the pressure doesn’t end up on the film.
  6. When the crack is filled with epoxy, you’ll need to leave it for 10-20 minutes to set.
  7. After the epoxy is set, you can remove the stability film.
  8. Then, put a drop of the epoxy cure on the crack and cover it with the curing film.
  9. After the epoxy has cured, you can scrape any residue off with the flat edge of a razor blade and wash your mirror off.

Use Epoxy Without a Kit

While a kit makes this easiest, if you have some epoxy lying around and don’t feel like hunting down a kit, you can follow these steps with your own epoxy, syringe, and adhesive film. We recommend getting a kit for most people, since the average person doesn’t have a syringe or adhesive on hand.

Replace Cracked Mirrors

Trying to repair a vanity mirror with a mirror repair kit is honestly only worth it if you’re on quite a tight budget. We can’t wholly recommend it to anyone with some pocket change. Instead, it’s much easier, much faster, and has much better results to just replace your cracked mirror.

If you need to replace a cracked vanity mirror, you can get a new vanity mirror of any size from Keystone Home Products in Toronto. For help installing a new mirror, check out our guide here.

Replace Foggy Shower Enclosures with Clear Glass

Replace Foggy Shower Enclosures with Clear Glass

Whether you’ve just got poor quality glass or you bought a home with intentionally fogged or frosted glass shower enclosures, we believe you can do better. Foggy shower enclosures might offer some privacy, but how much privacy do you really need when you have a bathroom door you can lock? Let’s take a look at some of the reasons to replace foggy shower enclosures with clear glass.

Replace Old Shower Enclosures

Sometimes, when your shower enclosure is really old, the glass starts to get foggy. This can happen for a number of reasons. If you clean the enclosure with a brush and chemical cleaner, it can be abrasive enough to scratch cheap glass. Years of little hairline scratches can leave glass looking less than crisp.

Additionally, if you have hard water, you can get a buildup on your shower enclosure. If your water has something like calcium in it, this buildup will be white and leave your glass looking slightly opaque. While this kind of buildup can usually be removed with special cleaner, those cleaners can be abrasive as well and may have a hard time getting into corners.

If you think it’s time to ditch the old shower enclosure that’s been in your house for the last 20 years, you’re in the right place. Keystone Home Products considers glass shower enclosures one of our specialties.

Replace Frosted Glass Shower Enclosures

Back in the 90s and early 2000s, frosted glass shower enclosures were a big thing. Nowadays, high quality, clear glass is preferable. This is for a number of reasons.

  • Clearer glass allows more light flow.
  • Completely transparent glass allows you to see into the shower which makes the bathroom look and feel bigger.
  • Frosted glass is often frosted because the opaque nature of it hides imperfections that make the glass weak. That means it’s more likely to break.

If you want beautiful, crystal clear glass that will last longer, look better, and feel nicer to shower in, replace foggy shower enclosures with clear glass shower enclosures from Keystone Home Products.

High Quality Glass Shower Enclosures

When buying a shower enclosure, you don’t want to buy from a disreputable store, but you don’t want to pay an arm and a leg either. Big name home products stores will charge way more than their products are worth, just so you can say you bought it from them. If you want quality at a reasonable price, rely on Keystone Home Products. We’ve been serving Toronto homeowners for years and haven’t left them disappointed.

If you need more information about what kind of shower enclosures we have available, give us a call. Or, visit our store in person and take a look at what we have in stock. You can also custom order shower enclosures from us if you need something with unusual dimensions.

Why You Should Use Wire Shelving for Clothing Stores

Why You Should Use Wire Shelving for Clothing Stores

Clothing stores have a lot of unique needs when it comes to storage and hardware. For one thing, they need storage that people won’t see, but also additional storage that displays products visibly. One of the most invaluable solutions is wire shelving for clothing stores. Let’s take a look at why.

Lets Fabric Breathe

One of the #1 reasons to opt for wire shelving is that it’s so breathable. A lot of boutiques and clothing stores go for wooden shelving because it’s sturdier and looks high quality. However, the way it treats clothing doesn’t make those perks worthwhile.

Wooden shelving allows little breathability. The clothes on the bottom of a stack will absorb that wood smell, pick up dust from the shelf surface, and can even grow mildew if in a humid shop or environment.

Wire shelving, on the other hand, allows lots of air flow. Moisture and smells won’t get trapped in your clothing fabrics. Plus, wire shelving has minimal surface area for collecting dust, which means your clothes won’t pick it all up when stacked atop it.

Prevents Pests

Clothing stores don’t always change stock frequently, which means a stack of shirts may remain in the same place for many months. New shirts may be added to the stack, but they may not be fully removed for a while.

Solid surfaces, like those of wooden shelving, offer a great place for pests to hide or make their home. If you have a row of clothing stacks with a solid surface up against the wall behind it, you’re making pest real estate. Bugs that eat fabric, mice looking for a warm place to build a nest, and more can make home behind your clothing. This may be easy to notice on lower shelves, but higher up, you can’t see what’s going on without deliberately checking.

Constantly checking for signs of pests (which are pretty good at not being seen) takes more time than a clothing store owner wants to spend on such a task. A better, easier, and quicker solution is to opt for wire shelving. Without a solid surface to hide them from view, from light, and from falling through, most pests will steer clear.

Allows Stacking and Hanging

Wire shelving isn’t just better for the longevity of your clothing products, it’s also better for display practicality. Wire shelving can accommodate stacks of clothes as well as hangers. This presents 3 great options for displays:

  1. You can display more clothing variety by stacking shirts above hung shirts of a different type.
  2. Stacked clothes can provide quick stock for the hangers below. This makes it easy for customers to see the shirt without unfolding it. If they take the product on the hanger, staff can quickly put a new one in its place.
  3. Outfits can be paired vertically. Shirts that go well with a set of jeans can be hung below that stack of jeans. This is great when you have an outfit on display. When someone falls in love with it, they can get the whole thing in one place.

Affordable from Keystone Home Products

If you need wire shelving for clothing stores in Toronto, Keystone Home Products is the place to get it. We offer high quality, affordable wire shelving for clothing stores. Buy storage and display solutions that will last. Contact us if you have any questions and we’ll be happy to help.

Home Goods for Your Basement Renovation

Home Goods for Your Basement Renovation

If you’re planning to renovate your basement, there are some things you’ll need. While many department stores offer the cushy furnishings you’ll need, or the bathroom towels, Keystone offers something different. We have less thrilling, but incredibly vital, parts, like shelving, mirrors, and closet doors. Here’s a little bit about what we offer in terms of home goods for your basement renovation.

Shelving

Every basement needs some shelving. Well, any room needs some shelving, really. Your basement is no different. And, after you’ve renovated it, it will be completely bare and in need of some vital shelving additions.

Display

First off, you’ll need display shelving. Most basements have some need for display. Whether you need shelves for books, video games, decor, or something else, we’ve got you covered.

Our wooden organizers are great for these purposes. While they’re usually marketed toward closet storage, there’s nothing about them that dictates they’re strictly for closet use. Our wooden organizers are great for visible storage and displays as well.

In fact, they can even be used as entertainment centers. What sets them apart from other entertainment centers is the abundance of storage. Many TV stands offer the very least in terms of storage. For someone with a movie or game collection, a set of gaming consoles, or the desire to border the TV with bookshelves, standard TV stands don’t cut it.

Storage

Display shelving is important, but storage shelving may be even more so. Home goods for your basement renovation must include shelving in places like closets and bedrooms. While the aforementioned wooden organizers are great for closets, we can’t ignore our wire shelving. This shelving is great for smaller closets that don’t have room to accommodate an entire organizer. It allows fabric to breathe, preventing mildew, closet smell, and pests.

Closet Doors

Once the structure is built, you may come to realize your closet is a bit… open concept. That is to say, you’ll need some closet doors. Keystone Home Products has a variety of closet doors. We offer sliding doors as well as bifold doors. Either style can be bought covered with mirrors as well. Mirror closet doors allow comfort while dressing and help to make a space feel bigger. This is vital if your basement bedroom is a small guest room.

Mirrors

While mirrors on the backs of closet doors are one way to offer you or your guests a reflection, we can’t forget the vanity. If you’ve added a bathroom during your basement renovation, a vanity mirror is one of the home goods you can’t do without.

Here at Keystone, you can get a mirror in any size or dimensions. Check out our handy installation guide to see how you can install it yourself.

Shop Keystone Home Products

If you’re shopping for home goods for a basement renovation in Toronto, Keystone is the local home goods store for you. We’re right next door and offer everything you need to turn an empty, finished basement into part of your home. Give us a call if you need help or have questions about our products.

Closet Organization Tricks from the Home Professionals

Closet Organization Tricks from the Home Professionals

When things begin to get a bit cluttered or messy in your closet, it’s time to get organizing. But where do you start? Keystone Home Products specializes in home products and organization. Here are some closet organization tricks you can’t do without.

Cut Down on Clutter

Getting rid of clutter doesn’t have to mean making yourself sad. A lot of TV shows and famous organizers of years’ past have pushed clients and followers to throw out anything they don’t use every day. But this is totally unnecessary and encourages people to get rid of things with sentimental value. Don’t get rid of things you love because you don’t have enough room in your closet at the moment. If you’re struggling to find room for things you genuinely love and use, there’s a better way to make space.

Instead, invest in a proper closet organizer to help you make room for your belongings. A huge part of organization is having the right organizational equipment. How can you properly organize things if your closet has nothing but a hanger bar?

What you do want to get rid of are things you aren’t fond of. Keeping clothes that you’ve been hoping to fit into for years or things you keep hoping will spark your interest again later is a waste of space. Every time you see those things, they simply remind you that you shouldn’t be happy in the present because you haven’t reached a goal that may not even be important to you anymore.

Instead, make room for the clothes you love and wear right now. You’ll make a lot of space in your closet and feel happier when looking for something to put on.

Accessible Storage

A lot of people find their main source of storage to be cardboard boxes. The only things you should be storing in boxes are the things in the attic. When you store things in boxes, they don’t get used. Even with markings on the cardboard, it’s hard to remember what exactly is in which box and digging through them is a pain. Plus, cardboard boxes are an eyesore in any closet.

Instead, buy organizers of any kind. There are full closet organizers for clothing and small sets of drawers for accessories. Try a complete jewelry box with spaces for rings and hanging necklaces. Get a display box for watches. Your clothing and accessories should be easy to find and stored in a way that makes you feel good about your closet.

Give Jewelry Its Own Space

Likewise, don’t dump jewelry into a drawer or box. If you wear jewelry, it can be tempting to just put it all in one spot. This is absolutely the wrong way to go. Necklaces will get tangled and things can get broken.

Buy a jewelry box or find designated places for each jewelry type. Putting a row of hooks on the wall for necklaces will prevent them from tangling. Buying a ring cushion or a hand-shaped stand will keep rings from getting lost behind the organizer. Jewelry is expensive and should be treated properly to avoid damaging it. Plus, it looks nicer and feels better to have things stored neatly.

Save Space

A lot of people store miscellaneous boxes in their bedroom closet. However, closet space is limited and this can make it hard to access the things you actually use on a daily basis. Therefore, your closet should be for clothing and accessories only. Cramming extra space with memory boxes or seasonal decorations hurts the functionality and appeal of the closet.

Use the attic, basement, or a closet in a spare room for boxes you don’t access very often. If you live in an apartment or other small space, consider buying some shallow under-bed storage bins for these things instead.

If you have any questions about the products we have to offer at Keystone Home Products, give us a call. We look forward to hearing from you!

Why You Should Upgrade Your Vanity Mirror

Why You Should Upgrade Your Vanity Mirror

People frequently underestimate how much of an effect a vanity mirror has on their self perception. Every time you shower, you look into that mirror to get ready for the day. You brush your teeth at that mirror. You check your outfit in that mirror. A vanity mirror is often the only place someone ever really sees themself. Let’s talk about why you should upgrade your vanity mirror. There’s a lot more to it than you might think!

Self Perception

Because most people use their vanity mirror as their main mirror – the only place they usually look at their reflection – the type and quality of vanity mirror that we have can have a profound effect on our sense of self perception.

If you only ever see yourself in a scratched, cracked mirror, or one that’s outdated, you can begin to associate those things with your own appearance. If the paint around your mirror is chipping, if there’s mold from the bathroom’s condensation, those will too. That’s because, if you only ever see yourself paired with undesirable qualities, your self worth can fall.

If you don’t feel good looking into your current vanity mirror, you should improve it. Getting a new mirror, and maybe even framing it, can make a huge difference. Looking into your vanity mirror after your shower can become a positive experience.

Environmental Comfort

Vanity mirrors don’t just affect our comfort with ourselves, they’re also an important part of our environmental comfort. If areas of your home are lacking and don’t look how you want them to, it has a negative impact on your environmental comfort. While many parts of a home are too expensive to update to many of us, a vanity mirror usually isn’t. Take control of this part of your everyday life and give it the boost it deserves. Small updates can make a huge difference in our quality of life.

Clearer Reflection

Old mirrors that have been washed and used for years can develop tiny scratches that aren’t really noticeable. The weekly – or even daily – wear and tear makes the mirror have a less clear reflection. When you upgrade your vanity mirror, you get a sharper reflection that looks great. Every reflection will look neater, clearer, and more positive.

Home Resale Value Boost

Any kind of improvement in your home can lend itself to a home resale value boost. The same goes for when you upgrade your vanity mirror. If your mirror already looks fine, it may not make much of a difference. However, if your current mirror is old, outdated, or worn out, a new vanity mirror will bring your resale value back up to where it should be in regards to your mirror.

If you don’t add a fancy frame, it may not do anything really special for resale value, but it can undo the huge loss in value caused by a dingy old mirror. After all, if a prospective buyer comes to see the house and steps into the bathroom to see a worn out mirror, it can have a surprisingly negative impact on the entire bathroom space.

If you want to upgrade your vanity mirror, come visit us at Keystone Home Products. We offer custom mirror sizes and will help you get exactly what you need.

3 Alternative Places to Use a Wooden Organizer

3 Alternative Places to Use a Wooden Organizer

While wooden organizers are most commonly used in bedroom walk-in closets, they’re not limited to those spaces. These wonderful and useful units can be installed virtually anywhere in your home where they’ll find use. So, here are 3 alternative places to use a wooden organizer in your home.

The Garage

The garage is one of the most underutilized spaces in any home. Most people use the space surrounding their garage parking to store random belongings. However, because garages aren’t built for storage, these items are often stacked haphazardly, jut out into the walkway, and are hard to access.

If you like using your garage to store less delicate things, it’s one of the best alternative places to use a wooden organizer. Having a wooden organizer to assist you can make a world of difference. Wooden organizers from Keystone Home Products are shallow enough to fit comfortable along a wall and still allow walking space beside your car. They can be outfitted with shelves, drawers, hanger bars, and more.

Stack boxes on the shelves, store tools in the drawers. Use the organizer as a combination storage unit and toolbox.

The Office

If you have a home office but don’t have one of our wooden organizers, you’re missing out. Having a wooden organizer in your home office can be a game changer. The shelf spaces can be used for storing books, file boxes, binders, and more. The drawers are ideal for important files or papers that you access frequently. You can also store office supplies – such as pens, scissors, staplers, and sticky notes – in the drawers instead of cluttering up your desk.

Plus, because of the possible hanger bar additions, you can store certain formal clothing in your office instead of taking up space in your regular closet. Hang an infrequently worn suit or tux in the corner of your office where it’s easy to access but out of the way.

As an Entertainment Center

The last of our alternative places to use a wooden organizer is as an entertainment center! Surprised? Don’t be. Imagine this with me: Instead of using the wide-open clothes-hanging space for clothes, use it for a TV. Not only is the space wide and tall enough, the hanger bar at the top can be taken advantage of. Using a long strip of decorative fabric, create a curtain decoration to outline the TV. This fabric can be wrapped around the hanger bar so that it’s loose and drapey. As long as it’s secured or arranged carefully, it won’t get in the way of the screen and will, instead, provide a beautiful backdrop of color.

Drawers on either side of the TV can hold movies, games, controllers, remotes, cords, and more. Shelving above or below the TV can accommodate consoles, DVD players, VCRs and more. The possibilities are endless.

Custom Closet Doors for Unusual Closet Sizes

Custom Closet Doors for Unusual Closet Sizes

While homes are usually built to a certain standard, that’s not a guarantee for every home. This is especially true of homes that were built a long time ago or that were built by someone’s great granddad. When things get more personal, they also get more unusual. While unusual can be fun and attractive, it can also be a huge pain when it comes to replacing things. For example, if you have a home with unusual closet sizes, you may need some help finding custom closet doors. Fortunately, Keystone Home Products is here to help. If your closet is strangely tall or weirdly wide, we can help you replace those old doors in no time.

Sliding Custom Closet Doors

If you’re looking for sliding custom closet doors, you’ve come to the right place. Keystone Home Products has sliding closet doors of all styles. We offer a large selection of frame colors as well as different finishes for the panel doors.

Each set of doors is made to fit the closet they’re being made for. Therefore, if you have an oddly shape closet, we can make doors just for you. Don’t worry about standard closet door sizes; we’ve got you covered.

Sliding closet doors are great for saving space in a small room or building. The closet entrance can even be partially covered and still accessible.

Custom Mirror Closet Doors

We don’t just have custom panel sliding doors; we also have custom mirror closet doors. These are sliding closet doors as well, but the external side is a large mirror, the length of each door.

These are a great choice for small spaces as well. Mirrors help reflect a space back on itself. This provides an optical illusion of double the space, making your room feel less cramped. Mirrors also reflect light, which can make a little bit of sun from the window go twice as far!

If your room is short on space, custom mirror closet doors are also great for getting ready in the morning. Without room for a vanity or standing mirror, these built in mirrors offer some assistance. Check out your entire outfit before stepping out of the house.

Custom Bi-fold Closet Doors

If space is less of a concern and you would rather see your entire wardrobe at once, custom bi-fold doors may be just what you need. These two doors pull out, bending in half as they’re opened and allowing you full view of the closet. These are also ideal if you use your closet as a storage space. Sliding doors can make moving large boxes in and out of a closet difficult. Bi-fold closet doors, on the other hand, allow you to store things of all sizes within your closet.

No matter what type of doors you’re after, we’ve got what you need. Give us a call and let us know you’re looking for custom closet doors and we’ll get to work.

Professional Uses for Aluminum Dividers

Professional Uses for Aluminum Dividers

Do you have an office space that could use a little pick-me-up? Need a boost on office privacy? Or, maybe you just rented out your first big office space and don’t know where to start. Regardless of what brings you here, your office, store, or other professional landscape can benefit from aluminum dividers. What are they for? Let’s check out some of the great qualities and professional uses for aluminum dividers.

Create an Executive Office Space

Many modern office spaces are simply large rooms that have to be divided by their tenant. Small office spaces in commercial strips are like this very frequently. Because of that, it can be hard for the executive of a business to get their own office space. Often, they just end up in a bigger cubicle than their employees.

If you’re a small company executive who’s struggling with the limited space, you should consider aluminum dividers. These dividers are extremely affective at creating new spaces. While cubicle walls are short and open, aluminum dividers can create a completely separate room. Therefore, one of the best professional uses for aluminum dividers is using them to create a completely separate executive office for yourself.

These dividers are made of an aluminum frame filled with a number of different pane types. There are mirror panes, etched glass, clear glass, and white glass. That means a completely personalized level of privacy and style.

Upgrade from Cubicles

If your office space is actually quite big, but employees are still separated into cubicles, you might consider an upgrade. Aluminum dividers don’t have to be closed off with sliding doors. They can simply be used to divide areas.

What sets them apart from standard cubicles is that they will reach up to a standard ceiling. If you opt for colored or etched glass, that means less visibility between employees, offering them improved privacy.

However, you can also opt for clear glass. Clear glass aluminum dividers used to replace cubicles are a fantastic way to improve call centers. They maintain the more open feeling of cubicles, allowing light flow and visibility across the office. However, they improve the work process by blocking noise. Trying to assist a customer while 6 coworkers talk to their own customers right next to you can be really difficult. Cut out distractions and improve customer service quality by using aluminum dividers to block out excess noise.

Section Off a Large Shop Space

Offices are one thing, but they aren’t the only place with professional uses for aluminum dividers. You can also use them to section off a large shop space. Most store spaces are just one large room. While some stores, such as convenience stores, are also outfitted with heavy, metal shelving, others are bare. If you’re opening up shop somewhere with no real internal framework, aluminum dividers are a great way to proceed.

A large store space can be sectioned off with aluminum dividers to help guide customers through the store. A few panels can be used across from a wall to create a sort of hallway. You can then place two displays across from each other – one backed by the wall and one by the dividers.

You can also place dividers perpendicular to the wall to create stations for different types of merchandise. This makes finding what you need in a large store much easier than if the whole thing is one room scattered with many different things.

How to Beat a Moldy Shower Door Frame

How to Beat a Moldy Shower Door Frame

Taking a shower really loses its sense of refreshment and relaxation when you have a moldy shower door frame. The problem is, cleaning a shower door frame can be difficult. The cracks and crevices between the glass and frame are great at harboring mold. Therefore, even when you’ve cleaned away the visible mold, the small amount left behind can quickly spread again. How do you beat a moldy shower door frame? Let’s find out!

Remove Mold from the Rest of the Shower

To start the mold removal process, give your shower a good scrub. If there’s a part of the shower you usually ignore, clean it. Mold spreads through spores, which float through the air. If there’s any part of your shower that isn’t being cleaned and may be harboring mold, the other parts of your shower will grow mold more quickly.

Clean the Moldy Shower Door Frame

The next step will take some elbow grease and a bit of time. Start by mixing 1 part bleach to 4 parts water in a spray bottle. It’s recommended you wear something over your mouth and nose while doing this, as the fumes aren’t good to inhale and neither are mold spores.

Lay a towel on the floor beneath your open shower door. Or, if your shower door is attached in a way that’s easy to remove, you can also remove it and lay it flat on the floor. This method will be easier on your arms.

You’ll want to work in small areas at a time to do this. Don’t focus on the big picture; really focus your attention on a few inches of your shower door frame until that space is done, then move on to the next.

Spray some of the bleach solution on part of the shower door frame where it meets the glass. If your shower door is removed, you can take advantage of gravity but leaning the door against a nearby wall and working on the part of the frame at the bottom. By doing this, the bleach solution will have an easier time traveling down into the frame. Use a small brush, such as an old toothbrush, and scrub at the mold until it’s completely gone. Try to get the bristles as far into the frame as you can to remove any hidden mold.

When you’ve done this to the whole door frame, you may need to repeat the process. It depends on how bad the mold is. To do this, put the door into the shower and run hot water over it, washing away loose mold and dirt. Then repeat the process.

Prevent Future Frame Mold

If you want to keep the crevices of your shower door frame from getting moldy in the future, we have a solution. Once your shower door is completely clean, apply a clear caulk or sealant along the entire seam of the door frame. This will keep any future grime or mold growth limited to the surface of the glass or frame, making it easier to remove.

Buy a Frameless Shower Enclosure

Is this kind of deep cleaning something you’re just not up to? Don’t feel like applying an unattractive sealant to your shower door? Avoid the issue of door frame mold completely by buying a frameless shower enclosure. Frameless shower enclosures are sleek and provide fewer places for mold and bacteria to hide. You can get a complete enclosure or just a door, depending on how big your shower is. Check out our shower enclosure options at Keystone Home Products in Toronto.

Home Gym Mirror Walls for an Affordable Price

Trying to build yourself a home gym? So are a lot of people! COVID-19 has really put a dent in people’s workout routines. Getting back into the habit when most gyms are closed is impossible without a home gym. Plus, when you work out from home, you don’t have to worry about wearing a mask and interrupting your flow with a sweaty mask that’s hard to breathe through. Here’s how Keystone Home Products can help you with your new setup by adding home gym mirror walls.

Benefits of Home Gym Mirror Walls

Many people don’t consider home gym mirror walls when beginning to build their home gym. However, there’s more to home gym mirror walls than just aesthetics. Here are some of the benefits you can look forward to after installation:

  • Mirror walls make a space feel bigger. Not only does the mirror wall reflect a space back onto itself, it also reflects light. This combination will allow your gym space to feel more spacious.
  • When lifting weights, form is incredibly important. Making sure you’re keeping your arms straight when lifting is important for preventing injury. With home gym mirror walls, you can watch your form while lifting and prevent injuries like pulled muscles.
  • If you set up a stationary bike, elliptical, or other workout machine so that it faces the wall, you can continue to keep an eye on the rest of the room without turning around. This is especially useful for parents who want to work out without losing sight of their smaller children.
  • Home gym mirror walls are also great for those who dance as a form of exercise. Ballet, and many other forms of dance, require constant awareness of pose and form. Mirrors make that easy.

Ease of Installation

Keystone Home Products doesn’t just hand you the mirrors and tell you “Good luck!” We install them ourselves. We’ve been installing mirror walls in Toronto homes since 1994. That’s almost 30 years! Because of our decades of experience, you can rest assured that your mirror walls will be installed quickly and look great when we’re finished.

Custom Fit for Any Home

Every home has different needs. Appearance, size, and shape vary  greatly depending on who’s ordering. Because everyone likes different things, we offer custom fit mirror walls for any home. Whether your walls are taller than average or a bit on the short side, we have mirror walls just for you.

Add a Barre

Mirror walls are great by themselves, but if you love dance or stretching exercised, you should consider adding a barre. A barre is a horizontal, metal bar that is installed at about hip-height along a mirror wall. You see these most frequently in ballet studios. However, you don’t have to do ballet to benefit from having a barre. They’re great for stabilizing grips, stretching, and more.

Give us a call if you have questions about how to order home gym mirror walls for your home. We look forward to answering your questions and helping you achieve the home gym you’ve been imagining.

The Benefits of Mirror Backsplash for Your Kitchen

The Benefits of Mirror Backsplash for Your Kitchen

Want your kitchen to really stand out from the crowd? Finding creative ways to improve interior design is such a fun thing to do. That’s why Keystone Home Products wants to clue you in on mirror backsplash for your kitchen. What is a mirror backsplash? Well, a backsplash is what you cover the wall with above your counters. So, in this case, we’re talking about covering that space with mirrors. Let’s check out some of the benefits of a mirror backsplash.

Looks More Spacious

Having a mirror backsplash for your kitchen means making your kitchen feel more spacious. Why is that? There are actually multiple reasons for this. The first is that the mirrors reflect the space back on itself, creating the illusion of more space. You may know, logically, that the space isn’t that much bigger, but your brain will process the size of the space as bigger than it is. That’s a great solution to a cramped kitchen.

Additionally, mirrors reflect light. Therefore, your kitchen will feel brighter as well. More light means more visible space. More visible space means the room feels less cramped. It’s a win win.

Easy to Clean

Tired of trying to scrub splatters of food off of rough grout? Tiles are a huge pain to keep clean, especially in a kitchen. Anywhere you’re stirring, frying, or otherwise preparing food is going to get food all over it. It may take a little while, but your backsplash will eventually be covered in evidence of your cooking.

The purpose of backsplash is actually to protect the wall. If you have no backsplash, scrubbing at the painted wall every time it gets food dried onto it can wear away the paint. However, tiles make cleaning miserable. With a mirror backsplash for your kitchen, you get the best of both worlds. A flat surface is easier to clean than one with dips and seams, but a mirror won’t be harmed by repeated washing.

Not to mention, mirrors are hardy surfaces. You can use virtually any kind of cleaner to clean them. If you want to use window cleaner or soap and water, vinegar or 409, it’s up to you. Any cleaner will get the job done and, so long as it’s not absurdly harsh, it shouldn’t do any damage to the sleek surface of your mirrors.

Sleek Appearance

If you want your home to have a sleek, contemporary appearance, a mirror backsplash for your kitchen will contribute to that. Not much is sleeker than the metallic sheen of a mirror. Plus, mirror backsplashes are only just entering into popularity, which means you’ll be ahead of the crowd on the newest contemporary trends. Trends aren’t important to everyone, socially, but they do make a difference when it comes to the aging of your house. House resale value will drop less if you stay ahead of trends. If you choose a style that won’t reach its peak popularity for another 5 years, it will take 15 before it comes even close to going out of style.

Affordable Glass Shelves in Toronto

Affordable Glass Shelves in Toronto

Many houses simply don’t have enough storage space, while others need a boost in design. Trying to add storage space without cluttering up a room can be difficult. If you want more storage space as well as a design statement piece, it’s time to buy affordable glass shelves in Toronto. Keystone Home Products’ affordable glass shelves in Toronto are the perfect way to improve storage and design aesthetic.

A Sleek and Beautiful Design

It can be hard to find the right balance between light and heavy interior design pieces. Too many heavy, bulky pieces of furniture, like bookshelves, can make a room feel cramped. Glass shelving helps keep things in the balance. Their transparency helps maintain light flow even after you’ve installed them. Keystone’s affordable glass shelves are perfect for a few books, statues, plants, and more.

While glass is a great way to avoid weight in your design, your shelves still need to hold up under the weight of their contents. That makes cheap glass shelving a nightmare. One too many books and they could shatter. This is why quality is so important when buying glass shelving. Keystone’s affordable glass shelves are durable and made to stand up to all of the usual shelf contents. When buying Keystone quality, there’s no reason to worry about shelves breaking.

Glass Shelving Light flow

As we mentioned, one of the great features of glass shelving is the maintenance of light flow. If you have a small home, you won’t have to worry about your new shelves blocking the light. In fact, you can even place them in front of a window to improve privacy, or use up otherwise difficult-to-use space. Plus, with the addition of sunlight and the light flow quality of glass, you’ll be able to see shelf contents easily.

Have you ever tried displaying something on a wooden book shelf? To get the necessary lighting on a wooden bookshelf to make viewing decor or displays easily, the shelves must be far apart and there must be plenty of light in the room, ideally, directed at the shelf. Glass shelving can be placed closer together and requires less direct light to adequately show off its contents. This makes glass shelving great for small homes.

Easy to Clean

There’s another benefit to affordable glass shelving. It’s easy to clean! Many types of wooden bookshelves require wood-safe cleaners so that the finish isn’t ruined. Glass shelving, on the other hand, does not. You can use virtually any cleaner you like to wipe down your glass shelving. It won’t be easily damaged by the wrong choice.

Plus, glass can stand up to water a whole lot better than wood can. This makes glass shelving a great place for displaying a vase of flowers or a fish bowl, or a lot of small, potted plants. When moving any of these things or making changes to them, a little spilled water won’t damage your shelf.

If you’re interested in purchasing affordable glass shelves for your home in Toronto, come to Keystone Home Products. If you have questions about our products, give us a call and we’ll be more than happy to help answer your questions.

Why Sliding Tub Doors Are Superior to Shower Curtains

Why Sliding Tub Doors Are Superior to Shower Curtains

Shower curtains are a huge pain, regardless of where they’re installed. However, when it comes to tub/shower combos, they’re an even bigger nightmare. While a standup shower with a curtain feels reminiscent of summer camp showers, at least you’ll only need to stand beside it. Tubs have their own set of needs that curtains just can’t meet. Let’s take a look at some of the reasons why sliding tub doors are superior to shower curtains. We promise you won’t regret it.

Less Prone to Mold

The first benefit to sliding tub doors is that they’re a lot less prone to mold than shower curtains are. Shower curtains, if not spread out after each shower, will quickly grow mold along the bottom. This is because the curtain rests against the inside of the tub, as well as folds over itself, and traps moisture. That moist, dark area is the perfect environment for mold.

Sliding tub doors have a space between them, don’t overlap with the side of the tub, and can’t fold over themselves like curtains do. Plus, because they’re transparent and glass, plenty of light shines through them, making a less hospitable environment for mold growth.

Easier to Clean

There’s no easy way to clean plastic shower curtains. If they begin to mold, it’s easiest to just throw them out and buy new ones. It is possible to wash a plastic shower curtain in the washing machine, but they don’t usually come out without a bunch of little holes from the intensity of the wash. These curtains are not very hardy.

Sliding tub doors, on the other hand, are easy to clean. With some spray-on tub cleaner and a sponge, you can quickly wash off any grime that’s built up on them.

Eco Friendly

Because sliding tub doors are easy to clean and less disposable, they’re much more eco friendly than plastic shower curtains. Plastic shower curtains ending up in a landfill is less than ideal and completely unnecessary. Instead, invest in something that will actually last.

Childproof

One of the best features of sliding tub doors is their ability to keep bathtime, well, in the bath. Kids love to splash and play when they take their baths. Every parent with a tub and curtain knows the struggle of trying to keep their child from splashing water out of the tub every ten seconds.

A shower curtain can be put inside the tub, but if it has any mold or bacterial growth on it, that’s extremely bad for the child bathing. The best solution you can use with a curtain is to spread it open on the outside of the tub and lay down some towels under it. Then, any splashed water will drip down the curtain and get absorbed by the towels. This just makes more laundry and then your child is harder to supervise.

With glass doors, your child is easy to keep an eye on and water will quickly run back down into the tub where it belongs.

Better Lighting

And, finally, sliding tub doors offer a lot better lighting. Their complete transparency means your bathroom light will shine on in while you shower. Opaque curtains or curtains with outer fabric counterparts make for a rather dim showering experience.

Black Closet Organizers for Modern Homes

Black Closet Organizers for Modern Homes

Struggling to keep your home organized and looking great? You’re not alone! One of the biggest challenges in any living space is finding the right balance between organized and attractive. That’s why we at Keystone Home Products want to tell you about the benefits of black closet organizers for modern homes.

Modern Black Closet Organizers

What are modern black closet organizers, really? You’ve probably seen all kinds of cheap furniture called closet organizers. What exactly are the closet organizers from Keystone Home Products? They’re beautiful, wooden shelving modules that can be put together for various types of storage.

Black closet organizers for modern homes come with many ways to store things. There are regular shelves, wire shelves, hanger bars, and drawers. This makes them perfectly suited to storing anything you can think of. Therefore, you can use them in your walk-in or anywhere else in the house.

Organizing Beautifully

One of the best tips we can give you, when it comes to organizing, is to use baskets. Whether you prefer wicker, solid wood, plastic, or fabric-framed baskets is completely irrelevant. Find a style that suits your home interior, buy a bunch of them, and go wild.

The thing that makes baskets such a fantastic organizational tool is that they turn any flat surface into a drawer. Each basket’s contents are contained and can be looked through without having to move them all around to reach the back. Plus, when you use baskets to sort and store things, you don’t have to look at the contents of your shelves. Instead, you can see only the crisp, clean faces of each basket.

When you pair basket use with black closet organizers for modern homes, you get a wide storage space, with a dynamic appearance. Instead of the entire system looking repetitive and lifeless, like a set of cabinet doors would be, you get something with variety that’s still pleasing to look at.

Use Them Wherever

Black closet organizers for modern homes aren’t just for the closet. These units can be used anywhere in the house. For example, they make great entertainment centers. Instead of using a large hanging area for clothing, display your TV there. Store game consoles or your old DVD player on the shelves beside it. Store electronics, cords, DVDs, and remotes in the drawers nearby.

That’s not the only additional use of our black closer organizers. You can also use one in an office, to store papers, books, and supplies. They can be put to work in the garage, storing tools, work clothes, shoes, and storage bins. The possibilities are endless. Anywhere you could use extra storage, these units will change your life.

If you’re interested in one of our modern black closet organizers, drop by Keystone Home Products today, or give us a call with your questions. We look forward to hearing from you and helping you to improve storage in your home.

Broken Vanity Mirror Replacement in Toronto

Broken Vanity Mirror Replacement in Toronto

When a bathroom mirror breaks, it can be a huge pain to replace. Not only do you have to clean up that mess of broken glass, you have to figure out where to buy a replacement. While a local hardware store might be most people’s first stop in their search for a mirror, there are better options. So, where do you go to get a broken vanity mirror replacement in Toronto?

Keystone Home Products

If you’re in the market for a broken vanity mirror replacement in Toronto, Keystone Home Products is the place to go. We don’t just have mirrors; we specialize in the home goods that other stores forget to offer. While there are plenty of home goods stores that offer throw pillows and bookshelves, we specialize in built-in products or those that improve the storage of a space.

One of our most popular products is our mirrors. We offer many different things that feature mirrors. For example, mirror closet doors are a popular choice. They’re great for those who would rather do their morning routine in somewhere more spacious than the bathroom. However, we also offer wall mirrors and vanity mirrors.

Mirrors of All Sizes

Because so many of our products feature mirrors, we have mirrors of all sizes. That makes buying a custom mirror from us the easiest way to get a broken vanity mirror replacement in Toronto. Hardware stores may have mirrors to buy, but they aren’t likely to help you with custom sizing.

Hardware stores focus employee energy more on things like blinds-cutting, paint-mixing, and construction materials. At Keystone Home Products, however, we focus our time on making sure the less-popular, functional elements of a home are working their best. So, whether your vanity mirror was small and framed or a counter-to-ceiling behemoth, we’ve got you covered.

Quality Products

Lots of stores have mirrors available – that’s a fact. The difference is, mirrors that are sold at other types of home goods stores are usually made in bulk alongside other home fixtures sold in stores. They’re not made by specialists who are focused only on mirrors. At Keystone, mirrors are one of our main focuses, so quality matters.

Get an Upgrade

When life gives you lemons – or a broken mirror – make lemonade! Or, at least consider an upgrade. Your old mirror may have been functional, but was it the best it could be? Maybe it’s time to get a bigger mirror – one that lets you see your whole ensemble. Counter-to-ceiling mirrors offer a better view of everything you put in front of it.

If you have limited space above your counter, or would rather avoid a complicated installation process, circumventing light fixtures, consider another mirror. Perhaps one of our mirror walls or mirror closet doors would improve your outfit picking experience. Whether you just need a simple replacement, or a full upgrade, you can get everything you need when you call Keystone. We look forward to serving you!

If you’re planning to replace your closet door(s), you’re going to need to know the trick to removing them. All closet door types have different hardware connecting them to the closet food frame. Today, we’re going to focus on how to remove bi-fold closet doors.

How They’re Secured

This type of closet door is one of the trickiest to figure out without help. While most people have some idea of how to take off a regular door, and sliding doors can be figure out with some jimmying, bi-fold doors are a bit tougher.

Bi-fold doors are held in place by two pegs – one on top and one on bottom. The top one is the one we’re working with to remove the door. It looks like the image below. If you’re familiar with the door on a pet carrier, you’ll be quick to pick up how bi-fold doors are secured.

Looking at the peg holding a bi-fold door in place, it’s fairly intuitive that it must retract somehow. In fact, it’s spring-loaded. However, what makes these difficult is that these pegs are strong. The springs in them aren’t childsplay. After all, they have to hold a door on. If the springs were weak, the peg could come loose and the door could fall off, injuring someone, or worse.

How to Remove Bi-Fold Closet Doors

So, to remove bi-fold closet doors, the first thing you need to do is find something flat and metal. Or, if you have some really strong twine, that may also work. If you look at the sample picture, you’ll see a ring around the top of the peg. This is usually flush, or almost flush, with the hardware screwed into the door frame. In order to retract the peg, you have to have something that can hook over that ring and pull downward without breaking.

Twine Method

Let’s talk about the twine method first. This method is really only possible if there is a small gap between the peg’s ring and the hardware or door frame. Take a piece of twine about half a meter long and position it behind the peg, centered. Slip the twine between the peg ring and frame hardware. Bring the twine forward, crossing it in the front, and then circling around behind the peg again. Cross it to the front once more and tie it in a knot.

The twine has now looped twice around the peg. Hold the door with one arm and wrap the end of the twine around the other hand once. Pull down. If the twine is strong enough not to break, it will pull the peg down, removing it from the frame hardware and freeing the door.

Metal Method

If there’s no gap between the peg and frame hardware, or you have no strong twine on hand, you’ll want something flat and metal. A butter knife may work well, but should be used with caution. This may also scratch or bend what you’re using, so don’t use something you cherish.

Slip the flat piece of metal you’ve found between the peg ring and frame hardware. You’ll need two hands for this, so have someone else hold the door, or press it toward the wall with your body. When the metal is in place, place one hand on either end of it and pull down. It should do to retract the peg if it’s strong enough.
