It’s one thing to spend all that time designing a beautiful home. However, to design something that you and your guests want to spend time in, that’s something entirely different.
Designing a cozy house that is welcoming and warm feeling isn’t always easy. Where do you begin? What items work well with each other, and, do you have too much or too little going on?
When it comes to designing, it’s based on your taste and what your personality is like. That doesn’t mean the following five tips won’t help you. Use our points below as a guide to making your home feel as cozy as it can be.
Use Lighter and Softer Colours on the Wall
For the paint, you want to stay in shades that are soft, on the lighter side, and warm. Cooler colours can come across as harsh, depending on the lighting. Warmer colours, though, tend to reflect the light nicely and are cozy to relax in.
Try painting the walls in a creamy white, a soft blue, or even a rich red.
Add Texture
A cozy house is one that has lots of texture to it. Think of items that draw people in and want to touch everything. That sense of touching something adds to the coziness of the room.
To add texture, use throw pillows and blankets. You don’t want to go overboard, so stick with a couple of different textures and stick with those. Too much can make the room look too busy, which isn’t a very cozy feeling.
Lay Down a Rug
Even with beautiful hardwood flooring, bare floor doesn’t give off a cozy vibe. That is why you often find carpet in the living rooms and bedrooms of a house. Don’t fret if you don’t have carpet though. Adding a rug in the sitting areas of your home can drastically change the feel of the room. Opt for a well-made rug to add character to the space. Cheaply made rugs can bring down the warm feeling and make the room look and feel cheap.
Bring in Plants
Plants always offer a welcoming feeling no matter where they are. Indoor plants are usually very affordable and often are easy to take care of. Where you have empty spaces, shelving is an excellent space option, add small, green plants. Not only will the add that cozy feeling you’re looking for, but they can also purify the air too.
Be Smart With Furniture Arrangement
The way you layout the room can change the feel of it. If you want your house to be welcoming and have people stay, you want the furniture to be set up in a way that welcomes your guests into the room, and that everyone can sit around and chat with each other. Having your backs to the rest of the house isn’t very appealing. Think of circle settings where everyone can see everyone at the same time.
A cozy home is a comforting home and is often the place that everyone wants to hang out in. Simple changes, like the ones mentioned above, can quickly take your home to the maximum coziness level.
